M305 Assembly Issue

Hi guys, sorry for the multiple forum questions, definitely obvious I'm an m14 noob...

I took out my trigger group for the first time to degrease my M305, noticed it was EXTREMELY hard to lever the trigger guard so that the assembly could be removed.

Upon reassembly the trigger guard was so hard to lever down that I thought I was going to break it... Without the stock it pops into the receiver fine.

After it clicked in, I found that I could not dry fire the rifle, the trigger was doing nothing. Also my bolt wont retract more than a couple of inches before it stops on something. I removed it and it looks like there is some peening on the receiver where the trigger group latches.

Anyone know what the problem here is? Is my trigger group just too tight?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
 
Is the bolt locked back and the hammer cocked when you try to re-seat it? Did you seat it back into the action properly? There are a flange on the port side of trigger group (viewed from the mag well) you have to align with a slot in the action.

There is a good you tube video of exactly what you are saying. It has to line back up right for it to release the hammer you tube buddy!
 
Make sure the trigger is cocked. Then have a look at the trigger group. There is a "notch" that's going to slide in the receiver. It has to be aligned properly and shouldn't require that much force.

It went in once, so I'd rule out any issue with the hardware.

I did not dry fire the rifle after purchasing it, only tried after reassembly in order to do a safety check and thus discovered the problem. I wasn't seating the trigger guard fully, now the rifle will dry fire, but the hammer isn't falling with the proper force. The bolt is also incredibly hard to rack after the rifle is dry fired.

It's a wood stocked m305, I think the stock is just a bit too big for the trigger group. It is a incredibly nice grain on the stock though, definitely want to keep the rifle, so I think I some wood will have to be removed in order for it to seat properly. I will wait until I can see TacticalTeacher to do anything about it, don't want to ruin the stock!
