M305 Bolt falling apart

I was wondering if this is a common problem and whether or not its a simple fix.

I took my 2009 M305 to the range this weekend and fired several boxes down range. Towards the end of the day, the bolt starts feeding round 3 of 5 into the chamber. I pull the trigger and hear nothing but a click. Thinking that its a hangfire/misfire I look and see that the bolt is partially forward with the unfired round fully in the chamber.

Upon closer inspection I observe that the extractor has completely fallen out and it is sitting on top of the middle of the bolt. The ejector and ejector spring are sticking out of the bolt and touching the base of the casing. Upon dis-assembly the firing pin just falls to the ground. I dont seem to see any cracks or damage to the bolt or its parts, but it bewilders me how a bolt can become fully disassembled while sitting actioned in a rifle.

Any thoughts/solutions besides the normal norinco bashing?

Happens to ALL m14 type rifles .... And garands.
Could be a worn extractor detent or weak extractor detent spring.
Your bolt and it's parts are probably just fine.

when does this usually start to happen??? after 2000rounds???

My 2009 norc rifle was purchased new from a retailer slightly over a year ago and has only about 500-1000 rounds through her.

Is the extractor detent the section of the extractor that holds the firing pin in place when fully assembled?

The extractor detent is the tiny "ball on a spring" that gives the extractor it's spring tension and it retaines the extractor in the bolt.

i hope my bolt doesnt fall apart anytime soon. i have 1500rounds through mine. If this happens is it fixable? or do you have to buy a new one?

WHO THE HE** is going around SCARING THE SH*T out of the newbies?- or are they just PARANOID?- FOR THE MAJORITY of you , THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR RIFLE= it's NOT GOING TO "GRENADE" or fall apart if you maintain it properly-

It's one of those things that can happen, but it doesn't happen often. It's not an issue affecting ONLY chinese rifles. It can and does happen to ALL M14/M1A type rifles.

My field maintenance kit contains a full set of bolt guts and a bolt assembly/disassembly tool amongst other things, just in case.

Wouldn't carrying a spare bolt in the field be easier - I don't feel confident disassembling the bolt even in my house...or maybe I have to purchase one of M14doctor tools...;)

You could have problems with the headspace if you change the bolt. You don't need special tools, just an empty 308 brass.;)

So it seems I'm missing the extractor spring and plunger/detente. I suppose it must have fallen off somewhere at the range. The retailer I bought the rifle from doesnt carry the parts to fix my rifle. Where can I pick up these parts at a reasonable price?

Good luck Buddy! I have the same problem . Brownells & springfeild wont ship to Canada & 7.62 never answers the phone. Let me know if you find a supplier.
