m305 bolt fit question

dipping into the well of knowledge to edjumicate myself. a question for those who know. behind the bolt lugs . on the bolt body there is contact with the receiver when the bolt rotates into final lock. this prevents side to side movement with lugs fully engaged. my question is how tight should this contact be? seems to really slow down my final lock up.- my appreciation in advance
 
that surface is called the helix . I would look for obvious wear to the Parkerizing on the bolt body as an indicator of a problem.
if there's no wear, I dunno. not a common spot for binding on the norincos....... had that issue with some LRB builds tho hehehe
pics would probably help us.
 
Is this a USGI bolt you are fitting? There should be some, very slight side to side movement of the rear of the bolt when in battery and finger pressure pushing back on the bolt from the bolt face. (barrel off)
The bolt should not "wedge" closed.

Is this what you are talking about?

Bring her over......usually the Norinco bolts will be as tight as a 100 year old whore(without a cartridge in the chamber)

Willing to bet a Timmies dark roast that it is not the lugs causing the issue
 
yomomma - without a cartridge there is the slightest amount of play(front to back), may take you up on the offer, I don't go into the city any more than need be. i'm old but those 100 year old whores are scary, with or without a cartridge in their chamber.
 
45ACPKING, found the spot, polished the park on the bolt with 800 wet n dry, now she closes with 1/2 inch pull on the spring. you guys are solid. -thanks-

The test I was referring to is if you are fitting a USGI bolt to a Norc receiver.
These bolts can have a tendency to be tight or not go into battery at all.
It's a fitment test to see if you have clearance in front of the bolt lugs and that they are not getting jammed.
Rear bolt lugs could bind in the bolt stop recess or jam due to the distance between the rear of the receiver ring and the locking lug face is too short.
But after re-reading your original post I see this is not what you were referring to, excuse me for my confusion.
