Got mine today, and while I haven't cleaned her up yet, I'm pretty happy thusfar.
It looks as if the timing is a bit off but that the folks at Norinco adjusted the front site to the right to at least centre it with the rear sight, which might hopefully save me from the really awkward rear sight adjustments that are required to get some rifles to point of aim at a given distance. I'll keep it as is at least until I've taken her out to shoot.
The rear site adjusts well up and down with audible clicks. The horizontal adjustment feels really tight, so I might lossen the applicable screw or take the sights apart to clean and reassemble rather than risk stripping any threads trying to play with it. At least it looks like the sights will be servicable, and they are much better than the ones I've seen on the early imports.
The stock is typical for these, with the front ferrule pressing against the barrel band. I'll probably want to fix that.
I was also glad to see that it came with two 5-20 round mags, rather than one of the short five rounders that I find difficult to remove.
I'll likely order the UTG or Ultimak scope mount base (leaning towards the latter) and a Bushnell Red Dot. It should make a nice bush rifle for deer and maybe even CQB matches. Perhaps I'll add a match grade op rod spring guide or put her into one of my USGI fibreglass stocks, but otherwise intend to keep her as is.
I put the ammo away without opening it but look forward to trying it, perhaps ordering another case if Canada Ammo gets more. If I see anything interesting while taking her apart to clean I'll post that later.
Cheers,
Frank
