The rifle does not ship, AFAIK, with a brush that will go down the length of the bore. You can use the threaded rods to run a swab down the bore. There should be a brush (which has holes on the sides of the plastic cylindrical base to allow one of the threaded rods to be screwed into it) which you can use to clean the chamber. The hexagonal shaped hole at the end of the multi-tool is meant to fit on the end of the gas cylinder plug, to allow you to unscrew it and clean out any carbon deposits on the gas piston or in the gas cylinder. I'm not entirely sure what the other holes on the metal multi-tool are for.

Yup, saw all the other stuff....just found it curious that there was no bore brush. The wrench and screwdriver on the handle came in some handy when it came to getting all the oil off of (and out of) the rifle.
 
just picked mine up from CanPar after work. just spent 2 hours cleaning off all the oil and then lubing it properly.

Mine does not have a bayo lug. I saw that the first shorties did. Are all this batch lugless?
 
i used a "gun scrubber" solvent/degreaser and wiped it all off. Then greased as per the sticky's in the Main Battle Rifle section, and a youtube video i found

I'm sorry if this has already been asked in this thread but there is way too many pages for me to read through the whole thing...

Is the ammo that comes with this deal 'steel core' ammo? Only reason I ask is steel core isn't allowed at our range here.

It is an outdoor range. I'm not sure 100% why, but the rule as it's been explained to me is, if it sticks to a magnet it can't be used.

We have had a few issues here with some members of our city council trying to get our range shut down. I think the steel core is banned out of the idea that it can ricochet more. My understanding also is some steel core rounds were showing up in residential neighbourhoods, and they were trying to blame our range for them. So in general they want to distance themselves from that type of ammo in order to try to keep people of their backs.

Maybe due to the possibility of sparks as well? I'm not totally sure why it's banned, but the above paragraph is my general understanding, I could be wrong though.

It's disappointing that I can't use the cheapo ammo, as I am a cheapo, but having a range with no steel case (or core) ammo, is better than having no range at all.
 
Well, I'm a little disappointed.

I was finally able to bring my new purchase to the range for the first time today...expecting to spend a good amount of time getting it zeroed. Let's be honest, this thing didn't break the bank so I didn't expect a very accurate rifle out of the box.

I use up the first magazine, make a few adjustments. Then fire 3 shots out of magazine #2 and this is what I end up with...

I must say I was very surprised at how accurate this thing is. Now to load it with accessories and piss off my bank account.
 
FYI, I suggest anyone wanting the ammo should look at getting it soon. It will be gone shortly, and we do not expect any more.
