The bottom line is that you don't see many m305's on the firing line at Camp Perry.
I'll stick with the american stuff.

There have been fewer and fewer M-14s/M1As at Camp Perry over the years, because M-16/AR based rifles are outshooting them. An out of the box M1A won't necesssarily shoot any better than a M305, and by the time you have finished working it up into a competition grade rifle, you will have serious money tied up in it.
