Hey there, can anyone help me ID this norc? I'd like to know when it was produced. It is the non park'd version. Is there supposed to be some scope mount area where it has the norinco stamp?

I see that the main interface/scope mount area has been ground off. I encountered a few of these shaved Norincos about late 2002 and early 2003.

Mounting a top quality optic to this interface ? Sorry, you are out of luck here. You will be throwing all kinds of good money after bad. You will encounter all kinds of headaches. I strongly suggest that if you own this rifle, iron sights are gonna be your best friend.

You may try to buy an ARMS # 18 for $ 250 Cdn, but with half of the interface ground off, you are wasting your money... unless you have lots and lots of it to keep trying to get a serious mount when the foundation ain't there anymore.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.....

Here's a quote from FRT regarding serial # of this particular rifle:

"sample serial numbers have been observed with a two letter prefix (AL) followed by six digits. It is suggested that these firearms are probably associated with Allen Lever of Lever Arms as a distributor or importer".

So, may be these guys may help you out. The rifle featured in FRT is exactly(except the serial#) the same as yours.

My buddy has one of those relics as well as an H&R M14. He has an old b square scope mount for the M14. The mount fits perfectly onto the M305 but does not fit onto the H&R.
He only ever had a cheap tasco scope for it, but it shot decently until it disintergrated the scope.

those of you that know me know i was gonna open up on this one- what you want is the old B-SQUARE mount with the 6 levelling screws that mate to the receiver through the top- those will take the cant off the mount when you mount it - try to mount anything else and you'll get a 10-15 degree cant to the right- there is no horizontal bar on the mount and the screws are supposed to take care of that, allowing a tilt , but they also work just fine for doing this as well- my advice?- get the b-square if you can , and put a really cheap but good scope like a low end bushnell on it and don't spend anything else other than maybe a spare mag or 2 and ammo on it- it's not that it's a bad rifle , it just that grind screws everything else up and it's pointless- i've also got a AL 000 ### and had it since al lever was selling the first time round- incidentally, it shoots great- this stupid grind was done to appease the import rules at the time-
