M305 in other calibers?

A downsized model in 5.56 would be cool. Something for the Mini-14 gang to ponder.

Already exists.
The Ruger Mini-14. The new 58x series are amazing.
Accuracy is not an issue anymore. The thicker, beefed up barrel fixed that.
The M14 in 7.62mm is also an amazing rifle. I wouldn't have it any other caliber but that's just me.

Why? The 5.56 is already out for this American made action, The Mini. Why shrink another battle rifle down to copy the small variant.
