Hey guys,
Battle rifles may be a better spot to post this, but I figured I might get some better info here.
I recently got an M305 in a full blackfeather stock. Everything has been upgraded, the only original Norinco part left on it is the receiver. I have a Vortex Viper HST 6-24x-50 mounted on it.
I have tried maybe 5-6 different brands of factory ammo. Remington Core Lokt, Federal, Barnaul, Aguila etc etc. At 100yds, I haven't had a group better than 4 inches. At first I thought it was me, so I went out and got a sand bag set. That didn't help. Then I thought it must be the cheap ammo, so I bought a box of some Barnes super match stuff at like $60 for 20 rounds. That made no difference. So I took it to Silverdale today and got some help from Todd, one of the RO's. He sighted it in at 50yds, and had me shoot 3 shots after him at 50 yds. My 3 shots at 50 yds were all touching, more or less in the same hole. So I didn't touch the scope and walked back over to the 100yd range. Using the same ammo I just used, I proceeded to shoot a 5 inch group at 100yds.
I don't understand whats going on. I really don't think its me. I'm shooting off two sand bags on a bench rest, theres no way I'm consistently pulling my shots from the bench. So I either think I need to find perfect ammo for it, or this rifle has issues. I don't know...any advice or insight would be really appreciated.
