Hey guys, went shooting yesterday and me and my buddies were hitting pop cans @ 50 yards almost every shot but at the end of 150 rounds she was shooting a few inches low. Now to be honest I did drop the rifle (foot was on sling while I tried to pick it up) and it fell about a foot onto its left side and the elevation turret had some dirt on it so she defiantly took a hit but a small one at that :p so my question is can a blow such as that be enough to lose zero?

Sorry if Im just being dramatic haha but I want my battle rifle to be tough! and just wondering if there is a general tendency for the norcs to lose zero.

Rifle is a 2011, bone stock and ammo was norc copper looking stuff

Sounds like a poorly made rear sight, Check the EE for a garand/M14 rear sight.

I bought a new in bag springfield sight from spcamno, maybe he has some more.

Simon , The OP is using a scope ..not his iron sights...

These rifles are hard on scopes and you have to get a good mount that will hold a zero. What do you have for a scope and mount on it ??

Sorry ill clarify, I still have the norc iron sights on! Haha I was pretty pleased with my ability with them so never changed them. How easy is it to install new rear sights?i want to keep it iron sights for sure.

Sorry Simon you were correct ..... LOL

Alot of the rear sights on these are junk .....Does the sight move left and right and up and down with good positive repeatable clicks.... If you plan on just using iron sights do as Simon suggested and find some Garand rear sights for it.

It is easy to change the rear sights...check the stickies up top for Hungrys post on changing them.

Alright thanks guys, I'm taking her out on Sunday again I'll re-zero her and see if she holds....if not looks like shes getting some work done! Haha

Edit: the sight does click both ways nicely and seems tight, I'm hoping I just dropped it funny

The screw that held me elevation knob kept coming loose on mine. Bought a new rear sight from Hungry. Knobs.

There are a few videos on You Tube.

This happened to me. Was shooting at the range when my scope mount came loose so that finished the shooting with a scope for that session.

Next thing I know, damn rear sight screw kept coming loose. So frustrating.

About to hit the order button for one of the M14.ca scope mounts.

To the OP - as you may have noticed by now, the rear sights are junk.

UPDATE: so I took her out again today but as I was cleaning her I realized the gas plug was loose f:P: Lol tightened it up and she was back to her good old self.

I guess I may be the lucky one with a norc sight, mines held zero and never came loose even with over 1000 rounds through her. I can get 3inch groups at 100 in the prone quite regularly and as low as 2 if I'm lucky haha. Good shootin'

Speaking of loose gas plugs... That gas system will endure almost ONE full turn OFF and still somewhat function. After ONE whole turn, you will get FTE situations. Anyways, just useless information to store in yer head.

Keep that gas plug snugged up! :D

Cheers,
Barney

Thanks hungry! Yes my rifle was still cycling normal which is why I didn't check the gas system lol but now a new problem, how much do I torque it? I just used the tool from the butt at did it as tight as I can but clearly that wasn't enough....any tips?
