OK - Someone a long while ago questioned the use of Garand or M14 rear sights on an Norinco M305. Everyone (almost) knows that this is fine; however, I once added that you could still use the existing Norinco Base, aperture, and spring cover and just swap the elevation pinion and windage knob with USGI. Someone here call BS on this, although he admitted that he had never tried it.
Wow.... I have issues.. .. anyway, after a year or so of procrastinating, I tried it out this morning and Eureka! So, it's official to me at least. If your Norinco rear sight is wonky, you only really need to swap out the elevation pinion and windage knob with USGI. The Norinco base will accept the parts and threading is not an issue.

Funny thing is that the Norinco elevation pinion will not fit the USGI base, (too fat) but who cares....:p

Yup, I posted this experiment using USGI elevation and windage knobs along with the Norinco base, aperture and spring cover. Life is good.

Sniper1, I've found lots of the elevation & windage knobs on ebay. No joking....

Last I spoke to Numrich was they would'nt ship anything to Canada. That was just a few weeks ago.

Well, they seem to change their mind quite rapidly... here's the response I got today:

Dear ...,

M1 Garand parts can be sent without an import license unless they are in the
listing attached or over $100. All orders over $100 or that contain a restricted
part must be mailed to us with an import license from your government and we
would license this shipment with our U.S. State Dept. We charge an additional
$35 license processing fee. Some restricted items are barrels, bolts, bolt
assembly's, cylinders and assault rifle parts. Also we do not export large
capacity magazines, receivers, ammo, full auto parts and complete guns.

Thank You,

Nancy
