M305/M14 Scope Base/Mounts

Hey guys,

I'm new to the M14 work and looking for some wisdom. I want to install a scope on the M305 I recently purchased but not sure what is the best style of base to get. As the receiver isn't tapped, I would assume some gunsmithing is required. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

but basically 2 types ARMS style or the one here http://www.m14.ca/M14_M1A_CASM_Scope_Mount.html.

The arms style use the stripper clip guide and large pre threaded hole on the left side.

I like the arms 18 mount. But be careful if you have a m305 as it might not be to spec.

I just installed an ARMS 18 mount on mine with no problems. It was pretty straight forward.

One thing you need to consider is this. Do you want to retain the use of your iron sights. With the ARMS mount you may still use the irons. Provided you use quick detach rings. The CASM mount requires that you remove the rear sight assembly.

Just some food for thought.

Yup. Coupled with QD ARMS #22 rings, and your have a great setup.

Hey look at that. Learned something new today. Didn't know they had that feature.

So I will rephrase my previous statement. You loose the adjustability of your rear sights.
