What would you guys recommend? Something a little tactical and a little hunting. I would like use the rifle for both.
Anyone heard of Specter Gear?

They look like a pretty nice sling system, but unfortunately I dont think they ship to Canada.

Let me know what you guys have in mind for me! Thanks!

I ordered my Specter Gear 3 point sling from Optics Planet, they are in the US but deliver to Canada. It wasn't easy to find.

I just got an email from them that they ran out of stock and expect to have more in 10 days. This is the second place I've tried to order them from with that issue. Must be a popular sling. I'll have to wait I guess.

I have at least 2 Specter gear 3-point ordered from Brownells. I really like it.

However, mounting to the front of a M14 is a little touchy. The M14 handguard isn't supposed to touch the stock so the wrap-around strap can't be used. You're then left to attach to the under swivel or the gas cylinder.

It seems like this is quite a popular sling...
WildPhil how do you like it? Is it nice and sturdy when you attach it to the swivel stud?
Quality wise is it alright?
Thanks for all the info guys, Im gonna check brownells if they carry this sling

I have the above sling not bungie parts and its very solid and locks in nice , it doesnt slide around either velcro is very strong as well , however i have a UTG rail on my m14s so the wrap around portion at the front has to be taken off and then woven on the front sling swivel .

Sort of like this .

This sling looks pretty good, im just wondering if its comfy to wear... are there any bungie parts on it?
Let me know what you guys think (if you have it!)

I bought a similar system last year and tried once for a day hunting. the system ties very well with my USGI stock. Both front and back carry are comfortable.

These slings are bloody impossible to get. I've gone through 4 websites now. The company itself is useless as they ship UPS only for international orders.

there is a sticky on slings some where... but yea the consensus is; vickers two point. no 3 point slings! I had a 3 point sling and thought to myself; if I use a good pair of scissors and my wife's sewing machine to cut off half of the crap I could make a good sling.

However, I just sold it and bought a VCAS instead.

Hmm... they seem to be good slings. I will definitely check into seeing if we can order some. Maybe find a stocking dealer. I know that a friend at International Shooting Supplies is looking to become a direct dealer with Specter Gear... ill keep you posted on the whats what.

I have a 3-point on my M14, I find that it gets I theway during mag changes and for the most part ends up in the way of my natural grip of the rifle.

I like it enough to buy another and consider making it my only sling system. However I think that a sling can't be the best for every application.

On my M1A it's the best sling for hunting, wether in the stand or on patrol. It's because it allows ready carry without any fatigue. Climbing to the tree-stand, I wear it like a back-pack, muzzle-down. Shooting from the stand, I can adjust it for elbow-rest like a NM leather sling.
Many hunting partners were very interested about it.

Has someone said, it can get in the way for quick reload or if carrying much gear. Probably not suited for tactical competition (which I know nothing of) with lots of reload and handgun transition.

Yes it is rugged and good quality. Well worth the money.

Here's a picture of mine. The rear is mounted as in a previous pic, without the rear swivel. The front is attached to the gas cylinder to allow side mount and avoid sight obstruction and handguard pressure.
In this case, ready carry probably saved the day! :D
