M305/Norc M14 with Italian wood stock

Ok,
Here is my finished Italian Walnut Shorty. I clearanced the front of the inside of the wood stock, I switched the washers on the outside of the front sling swivel to the inside, but I had to dremel out a bit of wood as the washers were slightly too big to fit into the original holes. I then had to shave off a bit of the end of the allen screw inside the stock with the dremel as they stuck into the stock too much and interfered with the OP Rod. Looks much better from the outside now. I also had to add some epoxy to the inside right of the stock as it is cut for the longer US OP Rod pin and would allow the pin to back out eventually.
To start, I stripped down the original stock and handguard with a complete stripper/stain remover because when I just tried to sand it, my first sponge sanding block got plugged up in about 20 strokes and I couldn't get it off of the block. Once I got it down to dry wood, I sanded it nicely with the medium sanding sponge block and ended up using the fine sponge block to finish. Then I applied a coat of Minwax Dark Walnut stain and a few coats of pure linseed oil.
I forgot to take before pictures, but I can tell you that my tiger stripe really came out after the whole treatment!!!! It looks really nice in the pictures, but is absolutely stunning in person!

I am so looking forward to seeing these wooden specimens at the BRRC clinic on Sunday 30 March. I even went out and ordered a Boyd's walnut stock. You guys are corrupting my USGI glass stock biases.

Unless you are VERY lucky you will not get anything with a hint of Tiger stripe from Boyds. Especially for 99 bucks.
Not knocking Boyds, its a great stock for the price, but plain if not dull in comparison to what the new Norcs are wearing
I did a lot of searching and anything with above average grain is going to cost a whole lot more, running into the high hundreds.
So this Italian walnut is one hell of a deal.
And they shoot straight as well...............wish I wanted one.
