m305 norinco shorty, where to start

well i was at the range the other day and there was 2 guys working on what i believe was a m305 norinco shorty, they were setting up a scope and i was sooooooo impressed with the looks and the sound of the thing i had to stop and take notes and i worked my way over to sneak a closer look and ask some questions they were both nice enough to answer my questions and i would like to know as a newbie to this rifle where should i start with these, good sources for the rifles them selfs and good info sources on the history

Thanks guys....ive been digging thru stickies and reading up, no one seems to have any in stock, go figure i saw them every where and thought nothing of it but now that i want one ALL GONE lol just more time to dream and research

They can all work well and/but some of them might have a few hiccups along the way. Buy one, no wait! Don't buy one, but buy TWO of them! :eek:

Marstar's deal is about as good as it comes if you plan on buying one, although it doesn't look like it's the shorty. Same with the SKS deal.
 
"...Marstar just got some in..." Proper 22" barreled rifles(18.5" barrels are a marketing thing started by SA Inc., as I recall. Never a military issue thing. Who builds 'em makes a huge difference.) only.
$504 for two rifles is a good deal. No matter what rifles they are.
 
I'd go with the Marstar deal right now if I were in the market for an M-14. Seems the M305B's John imported have few issues or from what I've seen posted on here anyways. I did get to handle one of Marstar's original M305B shipment and the fit and finish seemed really good, as good as my 2009 and I think these were great for a 400 dollar Battle Rifle.

Even with these new marstar rifles I will expect to see the "usual" issues.
The ones we all learn to deal with like
Loose oprod guide
Crappy flash hiders
Crappy rear sights
Slightly off index barrels
Headspace in the 7.62 nato range 1.636 to 1.640"
Gritty triggers

These are the things we expect to find and no doubt will. And that's okay as it's a 400 n change rifle.

"Some" of the rifles in recent non marstar imports have had bigger issues along with the common acceptable issues above.

Eagerly awaiting my new m305b , complete tear down , inspection and box stock range report to follow
 
well i like the m305 + sks deal!! but i'm worried about of some of the issues i'm reading about........i have some thinking to do, thanks for all the help guys much appreciated


M 305 and the PPS 50.........better deal?
