M305 or M1 Garand? Can't decide.

Got her all cleaned up today. Detail strip and three hours later lol. The old grease on the gun had become very hard and gritty. There was sand underneath of the sight too, which would explain the grittiness in the grease. In retrospect, I probably should have cleaned it before test-fire, but all is well.

It is exactly what I was looking for. It's a '54, all numbers match SA in .30 Springfield. It shoots fantastic!

It came with a Shuster plug, 40 rnds of 150gr (enough basically to get the gas plug situated and a rough site in), and a couple of enblocs.

I paid $900, which is right in the ballpark of where I wanted to be.

Couldn't be happier.

I also wanted to add that every once and awhile I strip down a gun and am just amazed at the ingenuity of it all. It usually happens with milsurps, but there are a couple of modern guns that amaze me as well.

You can just tell this rifle was a purpose built machine. The big parts, ease of strip and function...just fantastic.
