One of the new SFRC black "shorties" with an m14.ca CASM scope mount, a Bushnell AR 223 scope, and Leupold High rings. I also tightened up the gas system with some shims from Brownells.
On a snowy day at Sheppard in Calgary, five shots;
Lessons learned;
1) Honestly, why buy a Springfield at four times the price? I still think I'd like to own one but I can't see why other than the name.
2) When sighting in through the scope mount, resist the temptation to squeeze one off unless you want scope face.
3) Even though they're suppose to be quick release ring, tighten this #### out of them with pliers or a wrench otherwise your point of impact will keep moving.
4) You can shoot 308 with a 223 scope just fine.
5) The Bushnell scope was a mighty surprise, clear and solid so far. I even compared it to a Leupold 223 scope (the budget Leupold scopes) and couldn't bring myself to spend that much considering the quality of the Bushnell so far.
