I'm just curious what rear sight elevation setting you guys use for sighting in your M305....say at 25 yards and 100 yards?

Also if anyone can explain the meaning of the rear sight settings, i.e. "M" and the range settings that would be a great help. I'd like to know the proper setting for different distances. Are they in meters or yards?

thanks.

thanks for the quick replies...

okay having them set high makes sense, because the Norinco sights seem screwed. At 100M my shots were way low, and I had it set correctly.

Just did that a few days ago and found that 12 (YRMV)clicks up gave me poa and poi at 25m and moa of steel gong at 200m with a 6 oclock hold! A little fiddling with the rear and front sight, which I drifted right and one notch left on the rear windage, and she was good to go. Rear elevation reads 200+1click, so it's pretty well on. Love that thing!!!!

All you have to do is read the manual.

took me all of a minute and a half to find this.
Type "M-14 forum's" on a search engine.Read it while looking at your toy and it'll make more sense.
Try this for a start-

1. Rotate the elevation knob forward until the sight is all the way down. Count the clicks as you do so. Write this number down for future reference.

2. Loosen the screw on the elevation knob until you can rotate the knob forward forward again. Still rotating forward stop when the 250 line (long line between 2 and 3) is aligned with the index on the receiver. Now continue to rotate forward the same number of clicks you counted in step 1.

3. Hold the elevation knob in position and tighten the the center screw. Don't let the sight move. Now turn the elevation knob to the rear and elevate the sight all the way. Tighten the center screw again.

4. Rotate the elevation knob all the way forward until it stops, then back the number of clicks in step 1. The 250 meter index should be aligned with the index line on the receiver. Leave it there.

Thanks zuke!

I'm still wondering what manual Wendell has, I'm assuming he's talking about SA... I wonder if there's anything specific to the norc, been too busy to look into it much.

Thanks Zuke, that's some fantastic reading there.
