Hey everybody, I've been looking everywhere online for a Norinco m305 and it appears that everyone's supply is dried up. Same with the local shops in Edmonton. anybody know when more are supposed to come in? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

From what I have heard this is the last of them at this price. Apparently the next shipment for most dealers I've heard the price will be increasing by 50%+ with an expected retail of 6-700$. No idea why all of a sudden such a huge jump in price, unless some parts just became unobtanium or they just want to line their pockets a little thicker.

god dammit. naturally its because a couple months ago i was humming and hawing over one. never fails haha.

Tikka I'm guessing you want the 22" standard version, or is it the Carbine 18.5". I've seen a few local here, let me know and I'll check prices and put you onto their numbers or websites.

Like Hungry always joked don't buy on buy two! Wish I even had taken his advice when 2009's like mine they were 399.00. Not to resell and gouge with, but should be a lifetimes worth of shooting at my rate!

I think that State Arsenal 356 where Norinco type 305's are made has most likely run out of receivers, since according the Emerison (See M14_Thad which can be found on the m14.ca web site, see page 241) they only had 19000 in their inventory in 2008. I think the cost of producing them would have greatly increased from thirty or forty years ago when the receivers for those imported into Canada where originally produced.

So now all of those $500+ used ones I see at gun shows will become a bargain.
or else next show they will be $700+ lol

"...run out of receivers..." I was under the impression that Norinco quit making 'em several years back. Forget whether it was here or where it was I saw that. Wasn't recently.

Spot on. I discussed this with Lee back then at SHOT. I met with norc on Friday and they are now out of receivers. Only a few small parts left.

I'm glad to hear that the Chinese will resume manufacturing M305 receivers. The rifle satisfies several elements of the Canadian firearms market, providing opportunities to for enthusiasts interested in Service Rifle, mid to long range target shooting and hunting, supported by the businesses that have developed parts and accessories to adopt it to the shooters needs. So long as the price increase isn't astronomical I'm sure that a market will remain for them.

I'm curious to see how the market will price the older rifles when the new ones show up, as it will be interesting to see how the new receivers and rifles compare to them.

Yeah I hope for a 50% price increase that the quality will get better, but I doubt it. Sounds like the only reason for the increase in price is them having to start manufacturing the receiver again. Not sure if they have to start making the other parts as well but we can hope we are getting more for our money. My guess is no though.

Looking at the receiver, most of the important milling would still likely be done manually. Even in a cnc machining center there would still be at least four or five operations. Even done in a high tech machine like an Integrex there would be three operations plus a couple of manual steps. Considering they already have the m14 specific fuxtures and tooling from the Americans, there is no way they would spend the money on new tooling. The cost increase will be due to the increase in what they have to pay a machinist now compared to 40 years ago. Their best chance to save money would be on castings instead of billet.
