M305 Thread and crown pics

Little project at work today. Cut with a hacksaw to 18.800". Final length was 18.760". Thread was cut with a sandvik 28 tpi full profile carbide threading tool insert on a manual lathe. Aluminum blocks were milled with a step for mounting the barrel in the lathe correctly. The barrel was dialed in the bore to ensure proper concentricity between the barrel bore and flash suppressor bore. That's was fun with the rifling but once I got use to it, it was .0005" out T.I.R. I was pretty happy with that. I cut the crown 90 degrees with a 45 degree chamfer at the edge of the bore. The 45 looks big in the picture but it's actually pretty small. The 45 was cut with a really small boring bar. Maybe a 1/16". Overall a pretty interesting first time. Definitely a bit of learning going on. Sure looks good though. Flash suppressor dialed in great once installed. I will do a better report later as this is being typed out on my iPhone

Thanks. I'm a machnist by trade but only for the last 2.5 yeas. I've been a millwright by trade for 17 years. Always. Wanted to try gunsmithing .

Thanks for the replying. The flash hider is a DLASK XB-4 .30 cal. The price was $54.99. I'm not sure how it will work as there isn't alot of reviews on them yet. I finish the assembly yesterday so it's out in the bush after work for a test run(I work in the middle of no where). I will review it as well after a few test try's. Everything function checked good after the assembly. I didn't use a crush washer on the flash hider. I installed it with a little blue loctite and tightened it up against the barrel shoulder. It dialed in good so I will try it out. If after firing a few I will check torque again.

I did something similar a couple years ago. Only difference is I turned myself a brake instead of a flash hider.

Looks good. What sight do you have. I'm looking to put a ultimak rail
On and a new red dot sight. Not sure of what sight though. Need a usgi Fiberglass stock as well. Any sight recommendations?
