m305a/b? will x39 and x51 fit in the same stock?

You'll need a wider magwell on the x39 to accommodate the AK mags.

Not so...

Accounting for some manufacturing variance, they are BOTH actually pretty close to 1 inch in width... With the M14 seemingly slightly wider...

We all know the M14 chambered in 7.62Nato or 308Win is dimensionally longer, with the cartridge case being 51mm compared to the 7.62x39 at 39mm in length...

As for how they modified the M14 to take the 7.62x39 and AK47 mags, they welded a bridge in front of the chamber which enables you to latch the front of the AK47 mag into.

On the original question as to whether or not the Norinco M305 in 7.62x39 will fit into the same stock options as the x51... I don't know for sure. But I believe it will because they used a 7.62x51 receiver, modified with a bridge welded in to take up the 'slack' front to back present to chamber it in the x39 cartridge...

Have both 308 and x39. You can interchange the stocks but since the 308 stocks dont have that welded bridge to hold ak mags, you wont be able to use ak mags. I tried it and the ak mag will insert in 308 stock and will lock in but it is extremely wobbly!!!! Doubt you would be able to cycle any rounds through it. Unless you want to use it as a single shot rifle then yeah you can swap stocks. Hope this helps.

Did you break one stock? I'm curious why would you need to swap stocks? I'm taking it if you have each rifle you have a stock for each anyway.

Had an aftermarket tactical stock on my 308 than i wanted to swap on the x39 and sell my 308. Even tried the wooden stock that came with the 308 also. No joy. Ended up selling 308 and kept the x39 and painted it
