M38 Mosins... Here they come!

Got mine in the mail (trade ex).

1944
m44 stock.
Bore = excellent.

Thought my receiver was loose. The barrel / receiver appeared to be moving in the stock. I was thinking it may need a shim.
Turns out the action screws were *very* loose. Tightened and BOOYAH no problem solved.

Came with the mosin tool / oil bottle and cleaning cap / kit.
Wish it came with a sling. Oh well!

Overall very happy.

They don't start shipping until tomorrow and it will take a week to get them all out.

They don't start shipping until tomorrow and it will take a week to get them all out. I think the original post here and the items description said they would start shipping in a week.

Lucky ducks then *shrug*. Mine're under the handguard, and they don't burn through the wood like the lost ark or change the barrel harmonics so I don't much notice em ;P
QUOTE]

Molot imports began showing up two or so years ago, with 91/30 snipers being the first. It looks like whether that mark is there or not, all mosins coming into Canada are from molot.

I have been told that all the Russian ex-mil rifles coming out of Russia can only be exported from Russia if re-classified as sporting hunting rifles, and that is what Molot is doing. Current import SKS's are not coming directly out of Russia

Wish you would have told me that before I ordered with a Dec 20th receiving date. I guess my wife will have to wait for her m-38 till after Christmas. Hell hath no fury like a women scorned. Especially since she buys more guns than me.

It was in the original CGN post and in the description that they wouldn't start shipping for a week. I expect to get a number out today so many people in a Ontario and Quebec should get them Monday.

Received mine (1944 Izh in M38 stock) It has a full escutcheon in the rear and a half escutcheon in the front. I've never seen that combo before.

I have been seeing it more and more with this batch. I have also seen pressed in on the back & screw in on the front.

Just picked mine up. 1944 Izhevsk, M38 Wartime Stock, all matching.

Shes a Keeper. If anyone would like to trade handguards, Mine is light colored and I would like a dark coloured one.

Amongst mine is a 43 in an M38 stock with a combination of screwed escutcheon in the back and liner in the front. There's also a somewhat nicer 41 in a pretty lacklustre late or post war stock. I'm going to swap out those two.

Couple laminate stocks in my order too. Bores run the gamut. The 41 has deep grooves that are a bit dark. All have some frosting, and one would probably count as being near shot out.

Again, since they are all refurb mix masters anyway, the best metal and the best wood will be put together for the familial obligation guns and the others will be sold along later, unless they turn out to be exceptional shooters.

Ok, sorry for the delay in getting pics up guys. I was supposed to get this Tuesday but just got her an hour ago from the post office (lots o' running around trying to find where my package went from Tuesday to now). She's a nice shooter grade rifle, which is exactly what I planned on doing with her, anyway! If I wanna get a nice safe queen later, I'll likely chat with Jacques. She's a '43 Izzy on an M44 stock. Not all numbers matching (but pretty close) with one small arsenal patch to her. I'm not sure what the number 2 above the butt plate on the stock means, though. Anyone wanna school me on that one?? Here's pics!

DiverDriver slow day ? If you dont like the prices dont buy them. #####ing about it isn't gonna change anything.

Yup, and your day looks pretty slow too (being your 3,504th post)! ;)

And then I respectfully disagree with your last point, in a number of ways....
1) Freedom of speech (or at least I think so)
2) The whole point to these forums is to share opinions and inform each other (right?)
3) I definitely won't buy what is a rip-off.
4) #####ing makes me feel better!

Have fun Forum-surfing!
