M38 Mosins... Here they come!

Pulled mine all apart and no rust or pitting under the stock line. Theres an unboxing video on my YouTube channel in my signature if anyone is interested.

My one showed up today..6 days earlier than expected!
My Posty bud brought 'er to the door and its a 1943 Izhevsk with proper m38 stock and
sights. The bore showed fouling, but is cleaning up well & is not counter bored.
Magazine bottom plate is restamped with serial #, but all others are matching including
the butt plate.

Overall metal finish is typical of the period. (They made 'em in a hurry cause of Jerry.)
Me happy with this rifle and if there be no headspace issues, I will finish the wood and metal to
post war standard and tune the bugger to the load it likes best.:)

Nice rifle you got there, its got the m44 stock though it looks like because of the bayo cutout.

That's an M44 stock but nice gun. In just a few haours I'll be opening mine and proper stock or not, I'm just glad to have something to replace the M44 that I foolishly traded off a few years ago.

They're great little guns. A bit hard on the shoulder but the length is great for bush walking. I like the ability for it to be held muzzle down and not touch the ground when walking (unloaded of course).

Got mine early today!

Its so nice!
Got the dark stain I wanted, all the numbers match, bolt is nice and smooooth and the bore looks great.
There are a few dings on the wood, but noting major.

Just recieved mine today a 43 izhevsk all matching numbers , a m44 tula stock. A little ruff , but happy with it. Looks good with my sniper repo, 1929 mosin, and my m44 hungarian( thanks jeff).
A 1940 for $1500 dang. Well each to their own.

Yup stock is a nice color, metal looks good from here. I see a stock repair on forehand chamber side, no biggy.

Congrats!.

It seems that fellows that purchased single Mosin carbines have gotten nicer and cleaner rifle, than others that purchased it within TEC 5 combo?

Its actually exactly the same on both sides. But at least it was repaired, so yeah, no biggy lol

I was not really into this for a perfect rifle, I mostly wanted a decent looking piece of functional history, and I got it.

Yeah my matching tula 33 Hex 91/30 has an identical repair job, kind of a nice contrast. I sort of enjoy stock repairs if they are done well, it adds character.

got mine from Jacques yesterday...yep, true story...3 days early...what an awesome guy to deal with, best packaging I've experienced so far....no new stock damage from loose bolts !!!

she's a 1943 Izzy....no refurb marks, matching numbers including magazine, nothing struck-out, no electropencil, M38 stock with a splice on the muzzle end of the fore stock. Bolt cycles properly even with cosmoline caked everywhere. Bore looks to be in good shape with no counter bore....but it's still full of grease so I can't speak to it's true condition.

here it is with my Polish M44. The Russian M44 was too buried to bother digging it out for the pic, so I added some other kind of carbine.

Finally opened it! No rust! (that's for DSIWY). Unfortunately I got the M44 wood so the stock isn't matching but the up side is that the receiver, bolt and mag are all numbers matching. The date stamp is really light on the last digit so it's either 1943 or 1945. All in all the metal looks new. Ridiculous chatter marks from rough machining. I'll assume that these weren't made after 1944 (hence the model 44) and figure that it is in fact a 1943 Ishevsk. Great little gun.

Yup...it is. I was in such a hurry to get the pics up and check the bore, that I totally missed the
bayonet groove. The half jug of Jaegermeister didn't help either.

The bottom plate on the magazine is re-numbered but all others match. The muzzle hasn't been
counter bored...yet and the trigger is not as tight a pull as some I've seen.(But it will be upgraded)
I got this rifle as well to replace my M44 that I sold a couple of years ago. DUMB!:bangHead:

Good to hear :p

its a probaly a 43, 1942s and 43s are pretty rough as they were pumping them out fast to fight the advancing Nazi's. the M38s were made from 1939-45
