With the Colts, these days, we can only bring them in for bonafide LE orders after approval by the US DOS. Demand is very slight, a fair bit of mucking about, getting letters signed by superiors, etc, enough that we don't really advertise it, we have a couple of times here though. How often do they come in, anytime I guess, but in reality, very very rarely, and those who buy them can't resell them. We concentrate on the Stags, they're nice guns too, and Stag makes them for us in configurations so we can import them for commercial resale rather than just named end users.

As of 05, US isn't allowing commercial export licenses for basically any US spec AR15, including the Colt LEs. That's why theyre so rare on the commercial market. The guys that buy them for $1800 can't resell them legally, I can't even buy one, so if I want one, I think I'll take another look at your ad! Rareness has a cost. Our handful of 'LE named end user' Colts don't make your Colts any less rare or less valuable. They're rare, they're collectible, and I'm glad to see you selling them.

So what is different between an Arms East Stag and a Stag from the US that allows it to be brought in for commercial resale?

Do all of the Colt LE6920 rifles have the larger Colt pins? I've heard rumours that there are some that have the normal pin size. Internet garbage or reality?
$1800 for the LE6920?

This question is open to anyone that knows.

Answer:

Colt LE6920 rifles use pins that are slightly larger in diameter in their lowers (The diameter is .170 vs the M4 military standard of .155)

This makes absolutely zero difference, and is arguably more dependable, as they are less likely to break.

As for the $1800 price, that was Dangertree's price for the LE market, not civilians. He and I PM'd back and forth earlier today about this. If you can find a brand new in the box LE6920 for $1800 grab it because they are not longer allowed to be imported for the civilian market.

I'd be able to apply for the LE Colt :D I don't really care about selling it so that's not a big deal to me.

With those Pin diameteres can you use other brand uppers with that lower?
Are there bushings or something you could use?
Ultimately it doesn't really matter, but it would be nice to eventually be able to put a .22 upper on it for cheap practice. Especially with a lot of the ranges going to berms and not allowing anything other than bench rest.

This would allow me to practice positional shooting on the handgun range with the .22. Also indoors wouldn't be off limits.

I don't believe so but that being said, everytime I sold an LE6920, the customer wouldn't have dreamed of changing the upper; not with the specs to which it is designed. BUt since the pin is larger, maybe you just need to increase the aperature of the hole in your .22 conversion?
 
The takedown pins on an LE6920 are standard mil-spec diameter. The non-spec pins are in the fire control group (trigger and hammer).
 
I've had a 6920 since 2002.
And I just got a Stag from Walter last summer.

And I agree, the chart isn't as accurate as it could be.
I mean, it puts an M&P 15 ahead of the Stag!! WTF??? lol

I'm so happy with the Stag, and the name isn't so important to me, that I'm thinking of putting my 6920 in the EE.......

Walt, any chance of G2's being available again?

And I guess if I miss my Colt enough, I can get another from Walt. :D

I know the M16A1's and A2's at work( as well as the Demaico that you got up close and personal with one day, along with the mp5.....) are/were great guns. They're getting old and going to be scrapped soon though.

The other thing I know about those guns is that when they don't work, I take it to the armorer, and he fixes it! :D

I'm no KevinB. I can shoot them ok, but I'm a long ways away from being qualified to do much to them except clean them after I dirty them. :p
 
The trigger pin size makes no difference at all, any quality aftermarket trigger is available in both sizes. Personally, I care about pivot pin size, and the Colt LE guns are standard on those.

I'm not a salesman for whylook, but I know something about US export regulations and AR15s, and if I was hankering for a 6920, I'd buy one of his from the EE. I'm pretty surprised they're still there to be frank.

I'll throw a 'vote quimby' in and, say that Stags are great, but I know that a lot of people want a Colt because it's a Colt (I'm one of them). Market forces are what they are, and there are NO new Colts coming into Canada for commercial resale. The tarp is off these, it's 2003 again till they're sold.

(And... if you're LE and you buy a Colt LE gun from us it will take almost forever to process, and you have to sign off first that you won't resell it :redface::().

I'll pay for a G2 of course! :)

I'd have no problem signing off on keeping another 6920, and I have nothing but time. :p
