Ok, I’m a Fudd and other than a Beretta storm I owned for a while years ago I have not owned anything tactical. I have been considering a shotgun strictly for Shizengiggles and range fun and the above mentioned 3 are what I have narrowed it down to. Will likely never add aftermarket accessories as that’s not what Fudds do , so what would you choose and why? I know all 3 are solid and either would be a good choice but what would you all choose. ?

1301 felt like plastic to me. Heart set on m4 while the extra weight gave nice balance. A little too gun shy to grab one right now but certainly will if there is a change.

I like my 1301 but I’m a little biased. I bought an a400 xtreme plus a couple years ago and I liked it so much I bought a 1301 mod 2

The answer is 1301. I have a 1301 and m4 and used an m2 multiple times.

You're talking about newer technology in the 1301. Cycle rate is faster, it's lighter, and the reliability is equal or better.

You also have 3 options, tactical, comp and comp pro if you're serious about competition shooting. All in different lengths. So regardless of your use, you can get the one that you need.

Thanks guys, I still haven’t been able to handle any of them as I am looking for a retailer with in a reasonable drive that has all 3 in stock so I can feel how they fit. I imagine this will be the deciding factor as they all have solid reputations.

Money no object: M4
Trendiest: 1301
Most practical: M2

Top two will extract most money before any mods. M2 can be both a range toy and converted to a field barrel with ease, also the cheaper of the three.

I've never tried an M2, so can't speak to them. Of the other two I prefer the 1301.

Mine is a Comp, pretty much the only shotgun I use any more. If you get a chance to put hands on one you'll likely think it feels pretty cheesy with the plastic furniture but it's a phenomenal gun.

When I got my first one I was pretty skeptical when I took it out of the case. One trip to the range changed that.

Ya, I figured the M2 was the only one I could add different barrels if so desired, rifled slug or 28in waterfowl. Easy peasy. Hmmm, more to think about. Lol

1301 just felt so fuggin good in my hands and has been 100% reliable with a variety of loads. Felt like it fit me better than the M4 and the weight difference was noticeable.

I love an m4 and the 1301 I have a friend who has both and was able to shoot both before deciding the 1301 was the gun for me. It weights a pound or so less but feels like it weighs half as much. I also found that the 1301 shouldered really nice and just shot amazing. I still want an m4 but I could only afford one so I went for the beretta.

Garand Thumb did shotgun winter tests with a variety of types and makes. Though the M2 wasn't in the line up both the M4 and 1301 were and the 1301 beat out the M4.

Like Hickok, I prefer the standard stock. The M4 is a fantastic semi. Nice heft to it and shoots fast.
