A good vid about the pros and cons along with the comparison between the mil-spec M4 vs gucci AR15.

Civilian AR was running a Giessele trigger, mid length gas system and floating handguard versus a mil spec stock trigger, carabine length gas system with A2 post. M4 also had a bunch of lights and lasers up front, so that added some weight.

Civilian AR ran faster in all cases. Which isn’t a surprise at all, seeing the upgrades it had. Real question is which one would still perform under combat duress

Complexity leads to malfunction. I like simple setups, and I would opt for the M4 in that clip over the civvy AR. I think a lot of the trinkets would break in real combat situations.

Either or. The civillian advantage is customizability without having to consult. The disadvantage is a lot of junk is out there and its easy to cut corners and put together a pos. There is a min standard for mil spec. Definitely possible to meet and exceed civvie side. As long as we know what we are doing.

Screw Flannel Daddy. His tests ALWAYS result in the most expensive product (from the company that sent him free stuff or paid him) coming out on top.

GT is a complete whore.

Which trinkets? The midlength gas, the Geissele rail, the Geissele trigger or something else? The first three I mentioned are all the newest requests by USSOCOM for their rifles. IN fact the entire upper receiver is assembled(possibly manufactured?) by Geissele.

That’s a BCM MCMR upper. No geissele anything....

That being said, I’ll never understand why safe queen shooters will opine that modern AR15’s won’t “hold up” under combat duress. Meanwhile many of these top names in the civilian AR15 world are also supplying parts and in some cases, rifles, to top tier units using whatever they deem necessary over seas and at home in various law enforcement capacities.

Some things really need to be explained, and rack grade issued rifles are not “built” any better than most of the quality manufacturers out there. The term “military grade” was once described to me by a former CF tech as being nothing more than “the lowest common denominator”. Just because the military has issued it doesn’t mean it’s not a giant hunk of sh!t compared to what’s available in the vast civilian market.

how dare you sir.

How dare you suggest more money spent results in a superior product. damn capitalism.

Mil-spec is the baseline minimum requirement, that's it, it will not be the best out there. Cheapest bid that mades the grade gets the contract.
