I have the opportunity to pick up a M41 at a very good price. The only problem is that it is missing the rear sight AND the scope mount. It does not come with the scope or anything either. So my question is, is it still considered a M41, and is it worth more than just a regular Swede? I haven't seen it in person yet, so I'm not sure what condition it is in.

It's going to be extremely difficult to round up the parts you need to complete that rifle. Some are readily available but the scope/bracket/base are whole different ball games. Especially since CIA imported most of what was left in the Scandinavian countries and distributed them to dealers. There were two different scope options and I also seem to remember some scopes and brackets separately. Of course, you can't bring them into Canada without going through a lot of hoops and expense.

Before you purchase that rifle, check it to see if the throat has been eroded and pushed forward. This is a common occurrence in these rifles. I have seen/handled/shot several of them and maybe, 25% of them had perfect bores. These rifles were well used and from what I can deduce from personal experience, many of them were stripped for parts as they wore and were being rotated out of service to be replaced with more modern rifles/scopes.

Well I went and picked it up. Turns out it isn't a Swedish Mauser. It's a Krag-Jorgenson in 6.5x55.

Well, depending on its completeness and bore condition I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at it.

The only issue with most of those rifles is they had their stocks cut down and the ammo that came into the country with them was corrosive and many of them have pitted bores.

For a good price I would pick up just about any 6.5 milsurp and a lot of others.
Scope or not they can be very accurate if you have good eye.

The bore looks great. But the stock has been cut down. And like I mentioned earlier, it is missing the rear sight.

That means it was likely drilled and tapped for some sort of modern base and the rear sight was removed to keep it from blocking the scope.

That rifle will make a great hunting rifle out to 300+meters if you learn how to gage the trajectory of the bullets you shoot out of it.

The last one I had with an excellent bore was very accurate. Not only that but the balance and trigger are dreams. Very handy old girl and still very capable.
