And the SVT 40 is sold there for what we consider Garand prices. The comparison is simply not possible.

cronelunc is right about the price in the states. These guns also go on sale quite often. There are a sh!tload of these guns down there.

Hard to compare US and Canadian prices on milsurp due to such disparity in availability and rules... Why are M44s selling for these prices? Because they ARE selling at these prices right now. Whether you think Swede Mausers are a better rifle is immaterial... Enough demand and limited supply equals price point.

Obviously there are more than enough interested in purchasing them, as they are disappearing quickly!
