I have been researching the M44 and a lot of people ask about adjusting the front sight. There is a tool that exists for the 1891/30 but does not fit the M44. My search came up dry for the M44 specific tool. Can anyone advise if they know of such a tool?

You need Soviet Universal Precision Adjustment Tool, comrade! Is called "hammer" by decadent capitalist pigs. Use with brass punch so as not damage finish on property of glorious people's Red Army of gloriouser Soviet Union. Vodka ration denied for week if damage finish on rifle. Bubba go to Gulag!

Tap front sight in direction opposite to direction you want point of impact to go. Be gentle, like with babuschka! Do not beat like beastlike fascist Hitlerite invader of Mother Russia. If got to far, tap back.

Is simple, comrade. Mosin Nagant designed for operation and maintenance by bolshoi proletarian illiterate teenage Soviet peasant conscript fresh off collective farm with pigs**t still on valenki. Does not need decadent capitalist "sight adjustment tool"! Report to political commissar for attitude adjustment!

Add a drop of penetrating oil before you go out. Sometimes they stick pretty good from sitting for so long. As said, brass punch and hammer is what was used.

Yup, what they said. When I was sighting mine in at the range, I got some strange looks when I pulled out the hammer and punch. Bring a small block of 2x4 to rest the sight/barrel on.

Sight adjustment tools are convenient, but once its adjusted, you rarely need to go back. The only adjustment tool I really get my moneys worth out of is the SKS tool, but simply because we have so many SKS rifles. My everyday range box has a standard punch and hammer for all other occasions.

I got the 1891 tool and reamed it out to fit the M44. I have 3 and none would respond to the punch and hammer technique since I don't have a firm vise or work bench to hold the rifles. Worth the effort for me.
