I'm going to be using it for hunting but also target shooting aswell. Another question, is there lots of milsurp ammo around as well as comercial hunting loads?
Just remember...the M44 was designed and sighted to be fired with the bayonet extended and mounted.
Buy my hex receiver 91/30!
Agreed. Hex reciver Mosins are extremely nice rifles. I had a '34 Izhevsk 91/30and it was a lovely rifle. I regret every day that I sold it. I would go 91/30 just so you can get a pre war made one with a hex reciever.
Depends on how much you like recoil, I own both .... The 91/30 hurts after a few rounds, the M44 HURTS after the first round .... Your choice.
The recoil isnt something im too worried about, as far as the hand loading goes I just dont have the space to do it. I'm also afraid im gonna blow my self up lol!
Not if you hold it right.
Many times I've shot 50-100 rounds out of my M44s or M38s in one session. Sure, you know you've been shooting the next day, but it's not bad.
Well put, a lot of people over state the recoil of these rifles. If you can handle an Enfield or something similiar, your fine.
