M44 PU mount Project

This is not a Property Rights issue - I don't care what anyone does with their gun, I just wonder why they post their butchery in the "Milsurps" Forum.

"Gunsmithing" (or perhaps "Hunting") is a much more suitable place, but it seems that some folk are either ignorant of that (which might explain their amazement when they are criticized here), or are just trolling.

X2. Destroying history is destroying history. No matter how you try to church it up with "it puts meat on the table" or "there are thousands out there". Might as well go melt down some medals for a couple bucks scrap while you are at it. You can go buy some meat from Safeway with that and after all, there are thousands of them.

Its a growning curve.

I admit to scoping a yugo mauser in an attempt to make a replica sniper using ZRAK mounts and a pecar scope. I even wrote an article on it.

Thats where my heart and mind were at the time.

Would I do it again now that I know better?
No I wouldn't - but thats me.

I'm sure Tuscon will have some good times with his M44gery. However (as I have learned) it is never a good idea to sporterize a military surplus weapon and then tell your story in the Milsurp forum. We're here generally to celebrate originality and restoration - not the opposite.

Geez. Anyone have a cross we can crucify him on?

Just leave him alone. I can sympathize with a milsurp being screwed up, but honestly, nothing better to do?

What kind of scope did you buy for 50 bucks. Was it 150 or 250 for package?
Got a cheap M44 - 135$
PU mount ebay - 65$
PU scope ebay - 55$
Bent bolt from EE - 50 $
______
Total 305$

Here are the pics... Still waiting for my PU scope from Ukarne...

Oh look! I scoped a Mosin. It's my hunting rifle. It turns animals into meat. It makes gongs go gong.

And when all is said and done it can be returned to it's former socialist glory.

But by all means drill an M44, they'll just make more.

I believe That poland stopped in 1955 and China made a variation of the M44 called the T53? for some time after that but I do believe all Mosin Nagant varients have seced production.

I refrained from modifying my 1953 Polish M44 because of its virgin matching numbers.........Wish I could bring myself to modifyit with a PU scope........no nope cant do it. LOL f:P:

I'm pretty sure he was being a bit sarcastic...

No gunsmithing mounts are a really good way to use a milsurp for other purposes without harming it.

I have to call BS on the prices he listed...

:agree: Thats the most expensive 4X scope Ive yet seen. I dont care who makes them. They need to be more economical. However I do see how there is a limited market for the product wich drives up the price.
Too bad no one makes a side mount with a short weaver rail or something so you can put whatever scope/rings you want on it.

Whoa whoa, if you have a finn marked [SA] stamped M44 PLEASE DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO IT! They are quite rare, sell it (to me!) and buy a standard refurb M44... PLEASE:eek:

Oh my... you have a rare Finn M44? And you are going to drill it. I guess Albert Einstien was right when he said there are two things that are infinite: the universe and human stupidity.

I don't know for sure but the only way a Finn M44 could exist is if it were captured during the Continuation War in Finland. That's a rare bird to destroy.
