Some of you are complaining about the condition but these were used in battle more than likely used to shoot at nazis. The dings and scratches are the cool factor. Some of those dings are from Stalingrad or from banging it against a cannon or from rattling around in a Russian truck. The beat up ones were used as weapons of war. I think they should be worth more. Like a Samaritan sword.

World War II ended on May 7th in the European theatre. The likelihood of these rifles being used in battle at that time is fairly low.

As soon as War ended in Europe in May of 1945, nearly half or may be more of all Soviet troops were moved to Manchuria. Then Soviet union declared war on Japan and war continued untill August of 1945. So rifles that have been built in 1945 have a very big chance to be used in battle.
Likelihood of these being used in Kosovo/Bosnia/Former Yugoslavia wars is quite high. There is Albanian writing on some and even years printed on one that place them in the general area at the time frame. Chinese bolt "triangle 21" is an Albanian trademark. Also, the first name of the Kosovo army dude is emblazoned on another CGN'rs rifle stock. Feel free to look back a few pages and see. Likelihood of these being from Albania/Kosovo area is high. That was a very bloody region from the early 90's-2000 era.
These very well may have seen action. It would be impossible to prove, just go out and shoot yours and have fun with it. My 1946 obviously wasn't in WW2.
i have just cleaned enough so as not to pass the smell along(my cc m44)mine has the distinct aura of a veteran battle rifle,not a pimped out refurb parade soldier.my view is these are worth more as a classic collectibles,if its found these did see battle and not trainers or refurb , they are diamonds in the rough.no matter who carried them.(in a general sense)i dont think you find too many surplus stock that hasnt been refurbed around.i cant find much online anyways.my view on these puppys. this should be the m44 thread ive learned a few tidbits from this thread,keep um comin!!
I managed to order a second one when they were posted for a short time a week ago Saturday. Arrived yesterday; a very greasy 1945 like the 1946 I got first.
In my rush to order an M44 I fat fingered it and ended up ordering a 91/30 which I didn't realize until the quote came. Long story short, I asked if they had a 1944 to complete my (small) collection. They did. Arrived yesterday as well. Excellent condition all matching except the butt plate. Very good bore and a laminate stock with no gouges, dings, dents or peeling shellac. Very little cleaning required for those who don't enjoy it. No refinishing required.
Al was very helpful in straightening out my order. I will be checking the Collector's Source website much more often than in the past.
Looking forward to similar deals.

I should have taken a little longer with my original reply. (It's been a busy day) I meant that the likelihood that these rifles had been used to fight nazis was low. As has been pointed out there were m44s in the battle of berlin. So yeah they could have made it to the European front.
All I know for sure is that all the numbers on mine match except for the bolt, and it's a blast to shoot.

just got mine today,real happy with it .I have read all the post in this thread and this is what i think .The rifle is exactly the way it was when it came out of service.All parts on my rifle are matching except for the bolt which seems to be to be the norm for this batch of rifles .some one out there who purchased one probaly as the bolt that matches mine and i proabley have theirs.Mine is in real good shape just a few dings an aside from that everyday wear and tear that is to be expected from a rifle that as seen active military servise,only wish i knew where.Here are a few pics of the rifle, it as not been cleaned its the way i received it.

I don't think these have their bolts switched among themselves. The numbers on my bolts are 7 digit numbers. All the guns I have seen are 4 digit. I think they were refurbed originally with say Chinese and Russian supplied parts and then used and then cosmolined and stored unrefurb after use in say Albania as we suspect these to be from. JMO though.

Very cool! As I've said before, I prefer a rifle with some history behind it as opposed to a safe queen.,,,
my rifle dosent look to be refered as every part as the isivesk triangle stamp and dosent look to have ever been messed with look to be as manufactured.Although at some point the bolts must have been removed and randomly replaced.As to shooting the rifle head spese is something that will definitly be looked at befour shooting it.I have a mint m44 with a laminate stock that isnt as appealing to me as this rifle as this rifle shows carachter and history .The m44 in excellent condition looks new and not like a true milsurp rifle,this rifle could have been to Berlin who knows.
One of mine had a butt plate force matched, so they may have been refurb before use or not... But regardless they have seen action of some sort...
