Have you by any chance read or have access to "Serbian and Yugoslav Mauser Rifles" by Branko Bogdanovic?
 
No but I've read a lot of his posts on a different forum in regards to the Yugo Mausers. I wouldn't mind reading the book though. I'm not really into the Yugo's that much but have a few and find them interesting. The difference in the Syrian's I have has sparked a bit more interest in them lately.

Well in his book he isn't really clear on the Syrian M48BOs. However I think, some of the Syrian contract rifles are indeed M48As and some are even of mixed and matched parts to fill in orders.
 
Still kicking myself that I didn't take advantage of the new ones that Marstar had - really, what was I thinking? how many 'new in grease' Mausers will be coming along at that price in the next 200 years??? _sshat.

I have one of the 48A`s in cosmoline still that came in two years ago and one of the last 48BO`s from a dealer on here. The 48BO is a very accurate rifle.
 
I also have one of the 48A's that came in that cheap batch. Even with the extra 25 bucks for hand select it was a dirt cheap mint Mauser. I've never shot it and don't ever intend to. I did clean the cosmoline off it just to show off the nice bluing and metal work.

And with the 25$ for the hand picked option, some of us ( including me ) received a bonus M48 bayonet and scabbard...
 
Yeah I got in on the last Marstar shipment for an "As New" Yugo M48. It came with an ammo pouch, bayonet and sheath and a cleaning kit I think. Mine looks like it is brand new and was never fired and I have left it completely in the grease. I go and take it out now and then and dry fire it. It is really funny because it is so full of grease that the firing pin takes about 2 seconds to stop moving forward. I really wish that I had bought 2 so that I could at least shoot one and keep one greased up.
