M48 Mauser wood/metal maintenance

Good evening CGNs,

I bought a M48 Yugo mauser in excellent condition 9/10.

I want to do the proper maintenance on the wood and the metal for it live for a very long time.
It will also be my hunting rifle for the moose season opening soon.

What kind of care do you suggest on the wood/metal (oil, products, etc.)?

I have the original sling which I oiled with coconut oil. It actually absorbed all the oil and made it very dark (beautiful).

G96.
Beechwood wax.
Coconut oil?

Lots of products out there.
Don't rely on WD 40 for longevity.

The proper wood oil is nearly always a couple dabs of linseed rubbed in. The proper oil is usually something expensive...or just use 3-in-1 oil.
