Hi,

Took my marstar Yugo Mauser out to the range for the first time today and I soon encountered a problem. It wont eject the spent casing after its extraction. Everything else works fine, but I had to manually remove the spent shell from the extractor every time. Any ideas why it is doing this or what could be done to fix it?

Thanks

The extractor could be worn, letting go of the casing before it hits the ejector, or ejector could be broken, or spring broken or missing.

Check and see that the extractor holds the case all the way to the ejector.

I definitely think it is the ejector not springing back into position when the bolt is being pulled back. You should be able to put your finger in there and push on it to see...

Not sure about the Yugo M48's, but I do have a 98k.

After you fired, did you slowly open and expect to see the case go flying out, like on a Weatherby or Remington?

On my 98K, there is a little slot in the bolt. When the bolt is pulled all the way back, the bolt slides into this little piece of metal. This is the ejector. If you want the casing to go flying, pull back on the bolt quickly until it stops...and you will send the case into next Tuesday. If you pull it back slowly and not completely back (until it stops) the casing will stay firmly held by the extractor claw.

Th ejector would protrude from the left receiver side, and hit the cartridge rim as you extract it. With a mauser, the sharper you do this the further it flies. If you remove slow it won't do anything. It is not a spring loaded ejector.

Just look at the bolt face with it retracted all the way. You should see the ejector encroaching into the bolt face. If not it's broken or missing.

I'll take it back out to the range soon and try some of the things you gys suggested. If not, it could be something broken or maybe I messed up when I re-assembled it after degreasing.
