:) I wasn't actually looking for one, but I got one now!

I was just looking at ads in my local bargain finder online, when I saw an ad for a "Magnaported" (post 64') Winchester model 70 in .375 H&H with a Weaver 1.5-4.5X scope on it installed in Leupold mounts, and a set of RCBS dies, some brass and bulets and four loaded factory rounds...for $600 total !!!!! :D :p ;) :)

Pretty good, huh? :) Well I sure thought so. But then I thought..."Well, of course it will be gone as the ad has been online for a week or so. As it turns out - the guys phone line had been out of servce for the previous few days because of nearby construction, so he hadn't had any other calls on it yet.

Yes, I do wear a horseshoe up my ass...it's a bit uncomfortable, but at times like this - it's worth it! :)

Thanks for listening - Jeff.

Take it to a gunsmith and get a screw on cap to hide the magnaport. Or have him shorten the barrel to get rid of it.

The .375 H&H has minimal recoil and does not need porting... not that any rifle does...

Great find Jeff, good price. That bargainfinder has some good loot in it on
occasion.LOL Put a limbsaver recoil pad on it you won't be sorry.I shoot
375 and 8mm rem mag and they work, especially off the bench.Pete

I just bought another 375Magnum a while back. This one is 4 hole magnaported. The rifle weighs about 8.5lb with scope and mounts, which is pritty light for a 375, but is VERY managable because of the porting. It is comparable to my 35Whelen at the bench. I don't think I would get it done to a new rifle, but I wouldn't pay to get rid of either.

As much as I dislike muzzle breaks and magnaporting, I do have to say the the porting thing works very well.

Try it, you may like it, but wear ear protection. :runaway:

I get a good laugh out of brake haters. Don't get me wrong I'd never have one in place while hunting but come on its a RIFLE range. Rifles are noisey. I only have one gun with a brake and it came that way, I have a cap for it to use while hunting. At the range I inform anyone near me that its braked and does produce some blast. If they don't like it I tell them to have a nice day and kiss my ass.

Great deal, nice gun Jeff. Don't worry about capping the Magna Port, just tape it as you would any gun. MagnaPorting is not nearly as offensive as a brake and doesn't alter your barrel length.

To each his own opinion...
I had a beautiful 375 Sako which, in my callow youth, I sent away for Magnaporting. Not only a total waste of money IMHO, but actually made the gun LESS pleasant to shoot. As far as I could tell, the porting, while quite effective at reducing the vertical rise of the muzzle upon firing, did little or nothing to reduce the impact of recoil at the shoulder. Even worse, the increase in muzzle blast totally prevented me from shooting without earmuffs, even while hunting. After a number of years, I had the barrel shortened to remove the porting, and all was well.
I don't have any experience with muzzle brakes, but if they're actually even louder than the porting...sheesh!
