M700 5r Milspec .308 what bullet weight?

Are there factory 175gr Sierra match kings loaded rounds on the market? Or do I need to start reloading right away?

Federal Gold Match load the SMK's in both 168gr and 175gr. Hornady loads the 178gr A-max in a factory load too.

It was mentioned before the 1-11.25" 5R was designed for the 175gr range of bullets.

If you hand load your gun should be able to shoot 1/2 MOA and under. Mine does but its in an AICS instead of the HS stock.

180 gr. Hornady HPBT Match,42 gr. Varget,CCI Br2,Norma brass.

My pet load for all .308 HB I have tried.1 in 10 or 1 in 12 twist.

If I do my part, .5 MOA

168gr for up to 400m then 175gr for any over(please don’t take any as ANY, it is still a .308). Sierra matchking is the way to enjoy your range time while Federal match ammo is ok in the 5R but way too expensive.

Well I can say without a doubt for mine atleast it hates 168gr

No actually you can't. You can say it hates Hornady 168 which frankly I've never had a gun that shot Hornady off the shelf ammo worth a damn.

The twist rate of 1:11.25 is ideal for 168 and 175 SMK rounds.

Before you do anything, buy a torque screwdriver set from a gun store. Set it to 45 and make sure the screws from the stock to the action are both set to this. Also check your bases, and scope rings (Set at about 28 depending on the screws).

165 Fusion will give you 3/4 moa 5 shots. It's good for sighting in. Buy a box of 168 Federal Gold. If it doesn't shoot around .5 moa with this ammo then there's something wrong with your setup. Most likely your bases/rail, rings or your scope is broken.

They should also shoot 175 SMK, and even 180 grain. I'll be trying out some 175 SMK rounds in mine this year.

Epoxy and I were giving a golf ball a head ache out at out at 300 with his 5R. It's crazy accurate even with the stocks metro paint job. :D

Gotta disagree with you there buddy. My Savage LE2B was not impressed with 168 GMM but shoots handloads 1/2 MOA or better, depending on the day. Taded my supply of GMM to wicked_police for SAN swag.

I do agree that for the most part 168 GMM is prety affable ammo and usually gives a good indication of what a rifle will do, but it's not a universal certainty.

Cue the "Well what did you expect...it's a Savage" remarks.:D

I can't speak for the Savage since I don't own one. :p But I own a few 5R rifles and have shot 3 different ones. .5 moa was consistent with Federal Gold 168 with the 5R. I picked this ammo to try out do to numerous other reports stating these rifles like this ammo.

The 5R 24" 1:11.25 twist barrels seem to like this round.

On a side note I loaded up some 175 grain SMK with varget to try in the RFB. It didn't like it. Fireball threw my remaining ammo in his Armalite DND AR 10 and put 4 rounds sub .3 Moa at 100 meteres. He had a flyer on the 4th shot that opened up the group total to about 3/4 moa. I'll be loading some more up to try in my AR10 and 5R. The DND AR10 has a 24" stainless 1:11.25 twist barrel as well.

Anyways lots of fun. Fairly easy to buy match ammo for or reload for.

180 Nosler Ballistic Tip Part #30180 42gr Varget <0.75 MOA
180 Hornady Interlock Part #3072 43.5gr Varget <0.75 MOA
150 Speer SPTZ BT Part #2022 45.5gr Varget <0.75 MOA

These groups were well below 0.75 MOA but never now how much of that was luck of the day so will just call it <0.75
