Just aquired one of these units in a trade. I was curious if you guys who are more knowledgeable about these things could tell me what it is worth, realistically. I think this might be a good thing to know before I do blasphemous things to it like shortening the barrel and putting a synthetic handle on it.

Interesting piece if it is new in the box retail $650 ish. if it is fired $450-$550.

I think that is a bit low. The rifle is in a desireable limited edition chambering. If is worth $450-$550 then what is a run of the mill SPS worth?

A new BDL is $900.00 and used sell around $700.00 .Added that to a caliber that has only been made for 1 year, the price reflects that.Try and find a 700 classic in 250 savage for under $1,000.I found 2 in the states both well over $1,000.00.

Don't cut a Classic. Put a synthetic stock on it and hunt with it. Or sell it to one of us and buy an ordinary model to customize. Reasonable price is $800 max. not $1000.

I just had one on the EE NIB in 300 Sav for 750.00 shipped and no real interest or takers so traded it off for something I wanted worth about 700.00 which is about what I had into it as it was aquired in trade as well. The Nutz I traded it to has made a couple kills with it this fall and is happy and I got something I wanted, but worth 1000.00 I don't think so they are really a pretty plain rifle even for a Remington:)

I have/had one of these. My sister really liked it but it was too long for her to shoot comfortably so I had the barrel shortened to 21" and the stock shortened to 12 1/4" with a really good recoil pad installed.

She shoots it extremely well now and she loves the gun. Everything she points it at dies. I handloaded some 150gr Nosler BSTCT bullets to 2550fps and the recoil is very light. Sighted in at 150 yds it is a dead hold out to 200yds for her and that is about as far as she is comfortable shooting.

Probably should have just bought her a nice youth gun instead but she enjoys it and that is what matters to me.

I would think it should sell for $700.00 - $800.00 if it is excellent shape.

A used rifle is worth exactly what you can get for it. I tend to agree that the values of used, off the shelf 700s, even those built on short runs, don't change much regardless of the cartridge they are chambered for. After all, a unique chambering is only a reamer away. If I wanted a 700 in 250 or 300 Savage, I would locate a donor action and have a custom barrel spun onto it, in which case yes, it would be worth a few dollars more than a used factory 700 . . . to me at least, due to the quality of the barrel, not the chambering. With respect to a 700 in .300 Savage, it would be less appealing to many than similar rifle chambered in .308 or a .30/06, thus worth less to anyone other than a .300 Savage enthusiast or a collector of 700s.
