m700 question

I have a great m700bdl in .308 and would like to know if it can be converted from a floor plate to a magazine. Its the only mod I would consider but don't know if its possible. Has any one had it done? Can anyone recommend some one in BC to do the conversion if possible?

There are a couple of options for you...
One of them is a Kwik-Klip system, which I am unsure if they are made in a short action length. Or you can go with a DM system (Detachable Magazine). Each one involves replacing the existing trigger guard with a new one for the magazine. The DM mod will require wood removed from the side of the stock for the mag release.
As for recommendations, talk to Guntech.

A factory d.m. will not work. Something about the feed rails.

There is an aftermarket system that uses the factory Remington mag but the trigger guard/mag well is wholly this company's own. If I could remember who the company is, I'd tell you. Anyone?
Guido, are you saying that none of the short action BDL's are candidates for a conversion?

I believe you can't convert to a Factory d.m. There are feed rails in a non d.m. action. They may be able to be filed off.
You definitely can't go from d.m to floorplate.

HS Precision in the US make a detachable mag replacement for the BDL in .223 size and .308 size ... it is fairly heavy and Brownell's have stocked it... not cheap either... and I think it requires import/export paperwork... I don't know...
 
VBull on the board makes an excellent converson for .308 I just got one for a customer. Excellent quality! Look up to the ads and you should see his link.
 
Our shops here send Rem 700's out all the time to get factory mags installed. Someone in Quebec is doing it for them, $150 per gun, 1 mag included. LA or SA doesn't matter.
