I think id like to upgrade my 700 sps stainless in 30-06 after hunting season, I like the look of the boyds pepper, but the feel of a houge. What other options do I have. Which will improve accuracy more, looks are important, but someone once said that only accurate rifles are interesting, price is also important $100-200, whats a happy medium

McMillan is a top choice, but the lead time is getting lengthy, something like 8 months last I heard. You can get a comparable product from a couple of Canadian makers, Wildcat Stocks in Sherwood Park AB, and Robertson Composites in Ottawa without the long wait. I own 3 McMillan stocks at the moment, and all are excellent, but the build that I have going right now is spec'ed with a 17 oz Wildcat Ultralight stock, which compares to 20 oz for the McMillan Wave.

I don't think you're going to get much of an upgrade in stocks for 1-200 bucks..........not much help I know but the only stock I know in that range is the Boyds and that will add close to 2 lbs to the rifle.

Ok, Im not concerned about weight, will the Boyds offer any chance of upgrade, I wouldn't mind going to a wood stock. If not I could push back some other purchases that I had planned on.

What options is there for an increase, keeping in mind this is just a hunting rifle and I was planning on a 223 or 308 for target work.

I would like improve the look and try to gain some accuracy in the process. I could save for it if it was worth it, its just there has been so many ammo deals on crates and bulk ammo its hammering my gun fund

Why not put a WTB on the EE for a take-off stock and have it all sent away for bedding and trigger tune-up?

Those Boyds are nice, but will add weight.

If you like wood then just search through the parts section of the hunting arms EE and get a used take off CDL or BDL stock, whichever tickles your fancy. You will find them for the same price as a boyds and way better quality. Then just glass bed, and pillar bed if you like and you are good to go. You can also post your synthetic stock for sale afor about $40 to make back some of the cost

The Boyds stock is listed at I think 2.6 lbs, not sure what your sps stock weight is ....unless I'm missing something I don't think it will add 2 Lbs to the weight of your rifle. If you bed your action into the boyd's laminate I would think that is an upgrade from the standard stock, and a much nicer looking one to boot. :) Happy Happy!

I like my MPI fiberglass stock. Light, well made. But more than $200 I'm afraid. Lead time was far-far less than McMillan.
