M855 'Green Tips' situation down south

No, I just find it funny that people are worried about this. Can you explain why people need armor piercing ammunition that was designed for the military when there are other suitable options in 62gr? Didnt think so.

By that vein, the rifle itself (AR-15) shouldn't be available either. Also, .223 Remington was developed from .222 specifically for the M16. So all .223 should be banned too, right?

Hawkeye, this is how it happens. The hourglass doesn't empty itself out all at once. No, the grains of sand are lost one at a time until there are none left.

People are "worried" about this because of where it leads and what it represents. First it's steel tip, then it's steel core, then it's any ammunition that can penetrate a standard vest. Stand up for yourself.

They are claiming in the US the need to ban this stuff because it can be shot out of a pistol, and are 'afraid' for LE over there with their soft vests.
As has been said already, anyone committing a crime will not be buying AR pistols to do it with.

A group in Georgia did well in tearing the proposed ban to shreds:

Also remember, "United we stand and divided we fall." In regards to some of the back and forth in this thread. We all want things, some wants are different than others, they can be driven by funds available and the person or groups desire to have or want something.

Even though some firearm or firearm related wants may not interest me, I still respect the other person and their wants.

This is what makes all of us shooters unique and allows this sport/tradition/way of life, to flourish.

Lots of banter and flippant opinions. This is the last really free country on earth slowly losing its freedoms. It really is a huge deal. If let stand it will most certainly affect Canada as políticos will be more emboldened to restrict and confiscate
