Very short explanation might go like this:
M91 is a Finnish modification of original carist Mosins.Diffrences are sometimes minimal,some involve more work like rebarreling etc.
M39 is a very complex redesign of M91 and later Mosins where pretty much only action is left alone,however even this is not always the case.
I hope i got that right.

Amen. I learned a lot about MNs from there when I bought my M44. It will tell you everything including stuff you didn't know you wanted to know.
