I picked up this m95/24 last year. I went to pick up a Finn 91/30 Mosin off a guy and he pulled this gun out of a dirty carboard box and said "any interest in this?"

To be honest my jaw dropped, I've never encountered a complete m95m or m95/24 before so yep I was interested. The stock was cracked at the heal really bad and the metal wasn't very well cared for. It was caked in dried cosmo and dog hair. It looked like it came from the Nepal cache of weapons.

I made a deal and brought this old girl home giggling like a school girl all the way.

Been working on it on and off since last summer and today it was finally done.

Heres some pictures for those interested. There's a ton of chopped m95m's in Canada but rarely do you see a complete one.

I understand why all these guns are chopped before the rear band now. They dovetailed a Mauser forended into the barrel channel about 3" past the barrel band and the splice is under the band.

Here's a pic of the wooden dowels they drove through the assembly to hold it all together.

Anyhow I can't wait to put some rounds through this one and see how it shoots! It could use a couple screws etc but it's good to go for now. She needs a range day as I think she deserves it!!!

Never seen a complete one either, they are so commonly chopped that I wonder if it was done by the vendor.

Wow that is one of those guns which are higher up on my wishlist but as mentioned are rare to find in original condition. Nice find, I have only heard of a couple still intact of Canada, this adds to that number.

This one is a bit ratty but complete. I'm glad I saved it as the guy who had it bought is as a project and had very limited abilities. He destroyed 1 screw and gave up lol.

Said he put it back in the box it came in and that's were it sat until I found it.

No one is really sure what the difference if any is still. The splice in the stock is interesting though as most don't have the splice as far as I understand it (I also took a look at several other complete examples online and this example was the only one with the splice).

Personally the M95/24 designation makes a ton of sense to me as it is modifying the M95 pattern rifles to be close to the M24 pattern Mausers they had. I am really curious what the difference was, or if it was simply a case of one factory marking it M95M and the other M95/24.

Mine don't look like they have splice, and I don't recall any reading about using Mauser fore-ends. Variant I had M95 long rifles' stocks reworked, variant II had purposely made stocks.
Having said that one of my M95/M has single dowel but in different location.

Wow, very nice rifle. Glad to see someone managed to find an untouched one in Canada. I picked up a sportered one a couple years ago but luckily the individual that did it left the stock intact and only chucked the 2 piece handguard and barrel bands. Managed to track down most of the parts minus band screws and front part of the handguard. The bad part is it has a pretty bad crack running vertically through the stock at the grip behind the receiver. I'm hoping its repairable. Mine also doesn't have a spliced stock, its a 1 piece which I'm almost positive is one of the purpose built stocks

Dont know much about these rifles. Does anybody have a pic of what the modified or chopped ones look like?
Heres some pics that the Hungarian military mailed to me of their parade M95s...

I have the opportunity to buy one from a remote family member. I didn't see it, my father reported it's a full stock Yougoslav rifle in 7.62 caliber.
My research suggest it could be a M95/24 in 7.92x57. Am I right?
How much is it worth in good original condition?

Edit: just figured how productive the Serbia gun industries were. I'll see for myself what it is in 2 weeks. Should make a great gift for my brother-in-law with his new pal.

I actually have two , both full wood , one is Cavalry ( short ) and the other infantry ( long ).

I'll post some pics , when I get to it lol.

Perhaps , they've been in storage for a few years as I'm getting back into it .

Looks like there is not much 8x56r around . I have one box with nazi markings.

Yes the m95m is in 8mm mauser. The rear sight, handguard, caliber and magazine feeding, bolt are different from a m95. Modified by AT3 or BT3 i think. Here is a nice one i found few years ago and i really like:
