So I have a m95m sporter but the barrel is gone ; I get a group on a paper but its almost a foot and the bullets are keyholing.

Is there a barrel recomendation or source that someone can reccommend? I doesn't need to be another M95M barrel but I would like to keep it in 8mm mauser.

You should be able to get a good gunsmith to repurpose a 98 Mauser barrel.

I used to convert the M95 actions to 45-70, which was more a labor of love than realistic, but it worked well, after a lot of magazine mods.

The M95M was converted to accept the 8x57 rimless round in the mid thirties, so these very good and very strong, straight pull actions could be utilized by secondary combatants. This was a very good conversion IMHO.

The barrel profile and sights are identical to those found on K98 Mausers, they even utilize the same tenon threads.

A few of us, utilized some of the surplus Israeli and Brazilian barrels that were once available from several different outlets, along with bolt heads from Sarco Intl. to convert these rifles to 7.62 Nato/308Win. M95M trigger guard/magwells, already converted for charger feeding from the mauser 98 system, were available as well.

So, source a 98 "large ring" Mauser threaded barrel and get a smith to unscrew your old barrel and screw on another.

Now, you have to get your head around the fact that the fix may not be worth it, depending on why you want to do it, of course.

When I was playing with these actions, complete M95 carbines were $25 each, if you bought a dozen. Add $5 for shipping.

Barrels could be purchased in 100 lots, for the same price as rebar.

The only stocks available were what came with the rifles, unless someone wanted to take the time to carve one out of a block of whatever was available cheap, or modify some old stock with lots of composite filler.

I need the internal clip. Got any?

I don't know why you need an internal clip for an M95M. They were all converted for a permanent internal system inside the magazine well.

That system has a special sheet metal clip that is easily broken or lost on disassembly. They are often missing on used m95m rifles.

OK, I haven't seen any with the internals broken or missing. Thanx

The rifles I've seen and worked on had "modified" chargers in the mag wells.

The chargers are available.

OP, I do have a few spare chargers, but they aren't going anywhere until the mail strike is over. Contact me when Canada Post is back on the job.

If memory serves, the permanent internal lips were made from original charges, with the spines cut apart and attached with rivets to the inside of the cast steel triggerguard/magwell, so the elevator/follower could still be utilised.

I had toyed with the idea of using a regular spring/follower system in one of the 45/70 conversions, but that was all I did.

I never understood why those internal ‘chargers’ are so commonly missing. I have seen more than a few for sale without them, and that part is next to non-existent except as part of another rifle.

Very likely people take them out to "clean" the rifles and just can't get them back in?

It should be an easy fix, with one of the "loose chargers" and a bit of fiddling.

Finding the original chargers can be difficult as well.
