I have a M98 bolt handle that is positioned too low for my new (wider) stock. I want to have it bent out about 10 degrees.

Who does this work that you would recommend?

Relief cut in the stock wouldn't work?

Altering the bolt handle involves red heat, and refinishing/repolishing.

relief cut is deep enough, any deeper and it would go completely through. Yes, I know it will involve heat and refinishing, hence the need for somebody that knows what they're doing. :)

I am just going to send the bolt. I measured the distance from the bottom of the relief cut on my stock, and 8 to 10 degrees ("up") will be perfect. No need to send in the whole gun.

I spent considerable time measuring the bolt reach, and with an 8-10 degree bend "up", I still clear the scope with low rings. However, we'll see once I put it all back together. Nothing ever goes easily, especially when working with Mauser actions. :)

BTW, based on the advice of my friend Oskar Kob, the bolt is on route to Jason at Gunco. 2-day shipping.
Jason will turn it around as soon as he receives it. Great guy, and he seems to come highly recommended.

I decided I hate the look of the laminate with the colour case hardening. I ordered a Boyd's Classic walnut stock. We'll see how it looks.
The laminate stock is now sold.
