Maccabee Defense SLR information and updates

I don't understand all these "I'm not buying XYZ if C-71 passes" comments on all the threads on here. As if ya'll are going to stop buying firearms because of it.

Don't get me wrong I'm 1000% against C-71. Hopefully these receivers are in our hands before C-71 but if it passes I'm not going to stop buying firearms because of it.

The only thing the gun grabbers would like better than knowing where all the guns are is knowing that they have successfully fear mongerd us into not buying more.

Looking forward to enjoying my MacDef

It’s the Liberal voters in here that will stop purchasing firearms because if the PC’s get in things could and may change for legal sport shooters. I will continue with being a firearms owner.

Dyeing type III anodizing with matching shades from batch to batch is extremely difficult do achieve.

I'd actually take a purple over a black one, I've associated purplish anodizing with hard use combat weapons over the years.

It can't be that difficult as several other manufacturers seem to be able to get their anodized uppers and lowers to match completely. Both my Modern Hunter and Modern Varmint rifles along with a couple of Bushmaster ARs seems to be 100% identical match. Maybe luck? but I doubt it.
The competence of the anodizer would be my guess. Also having the uppers and lowers done in the same vat at the same time would probably be a good plan.

Agreed 1000%

I doubt C-71 will go through in 2018 but with all the delays you never know when they'll finally get these things in customers hands.

Not going to stop buying firearms because of it but I sure won't be paying $1000 for an AR receiver set if it's going to be registered anywhere other than in my records. I don't care if they still call it non restricted, I won't be buying any more firearms the government knows about unless it's a pistol or something else restricted. Registered non restricted just means that when it comes time to confiscate they know exactly where to find what they're looking for. Sold it to Mike from Canmore won't work any more.
Will be back to the $100 lower and upper if it's going to be registered. I have other toys for away from the range.

Exactly.

Either pump em out as fast as you can and sell em before theyre in the registry, or good ####ing luck.

Ill take a set right now if it was available, but all these great new guns are coming out way too slowly considering whats about to happen with C-71

So has anyone received an order yet?

Dealers have each received 1 receiver set for testing. As for the rest of us...... playing the waiting game (as usual with pre-orders)

I don't mind waiting but I'll be honest the lack of a realistic, no bs update is getting tiresome. They obviously knew from the get go that the initial eta was unachievable. Actually I figured it wasn't going to happen either and I'm OK with something taking longer than anticipated.

What is starting to get to me is their lack of communication on the matter. Their FB page is stagnant, no updates since last year. Their website is non functional, been "under construction" for months. And their instagram account (where they are at least posting stuff) is full of canned comments. When asked how much longer all they say is "we're giving it our all" "running 24/7" "as fast as we can" "your patience means the world to us" "when we have an announcement we'll post it" blah blah blah.....

And just going by the pics on instagram they're still a ways off from shipping finished product. I highly doubt June is going to happen.

I'm fine with waiting but FFS enough with the canned responses to customers who are simply asking for a realistic answer. If you think it's going to take x amount of time longer just tell us. I'd be fine with that. But the cheap, unsubstantiated, unimformative canned political type responses are wearing thin.... :bangHead:

I can deal with waiting, just have a hard time dealing with bs.

Glad this pre-order only cost 100 bucks up front

Rant over

Just found a pretty light target 18.8" barrel from Rise Armament that should be a decent option for the Maccabee, bought from online retailer and got Prophet River to import.

It's a 223 Wylde, 1:7 Twist, 416R, rifle length gas, straight flutes, M4 nickel boron extension... but I really like the profile. It's only 1.8 lbs, whereas the SJ Hardware 18.6" dimpled barrel I also bought is a beefy 2.4 lbs. I like that it's shorter than the 20" Faxon's and a nice weight. Guess we'll see how it shoots.

Edit - Removed link to non-forum sponsor, but if you search you'll be able to find them, even in Canada. I found a bit of a deal on clearance so I was about $425 all in.

Also there are some nice Odin Works ones being imported, weight hasn't been published yet so I went with the Rise barrel.

Judging from their 18" 3 gun profile barrel, it is 2.15 lbs....so prolly another .3 or so lbs.

Dreamt I had a Maccabee build in my hands and woke up very disappointed lol....anybody wanna give up their spot if it’s on the first shipment ?

Are they shipping to retailers/distributors first or are you guys supposed to be getting them shipped straight from Maccabee?
Are they finished development and testing? Are there revisions to be done?
Weird that they either have zero units built or they want to wait till they have 1000 of them to ship all at once.

Once again, glad I skipped another Pre-Order BS F'n tale of frustration.
New strategy for you guys, don't pay for anything until there is actually a product to pay for, nothing takes away motivation to finish a project on time like paying the workers before they start.

Good luck boys and girls, I hope you get your product before F'n C-71 goes through and these end up on the "non-registry".
Personally I would tell Maccabee that if these aren't shipped before C-71 you are cancelling the order. But hopefully that bill doesn't make it any further through the system.
