Maccabee Defense SLR information and updates

^ agreed I've lost all interest on that subject now. I plan on building a .223 and 7.62x39 rig on this platform if they sell uppers alone, which I assume eventually they will. This will be custom to my liking and parts will be easily found and serviceable.

I think about it this way.... add a few more hundred and I'm looking at a precision crafted pierce action .... i have to ask myself, which would i prefer more and which gives me more value for my hard earned cash. At the end of the day that is how i look at it. My semi intimate knowledge of material and machining costs also flavor my thoughts on this one.
That's probably all I gotta say, not trying to be a negative troll.
 
I'm really wanting to take my AR15 and throw all the components onto this.

The only thing I need to find is an 18.5" cold hammer forged barrel with a mid-weight profile. I have a Daniel Defense S2W 18" barrel which is perfect; but it's a half inch too short to be NR >.<
 
If you guys know a good 'Smith, they should be able to cut down a 20" barrel.

I'm after a 7.62x39 setup.

I would measure your barrel according to 'Canadian' standards. A lot of American manufacturers do not include the chamber in their measurement.

Pinning an extension onto a barrel of less than 18.5" length will achieve nothing. You appear to be confusing US and Canadian regulations concerning barrel length, and are therefore providing erroneous information. The only way to achieve an 18.5" barrel is to have a barrel manufactured or shortened to that length. There is no "adding on" possible under Canadian law.
 
Edit* Americans don't know how to measure.

We close the bolt and measure the chamber, and the barrel, not including any attached devices, weather pinned or not.

Err, no, they don't. Same technique as here, except a permanently attached muzzle device counts as part of the barrel length.
 
I think that for me, it would make the most sense to buy the receiver set, and swap the parts from one of my ARs over. This would give me a non-restricted ARish rifle configured to my preferences. The question is whether it is worth $1000 plus delivery and taxes to me.
 
I'm really wanting to build a 6.5 Grendel; does anyone know a Canadian source for a barrel? I could go whole hog and machine one from a blank but I'd rather avoid the extra work. I do have a .257 blank... 25-45 Sharps? Or 25 SPC? Hmmm the possibilities are endless!

What would be advantageous about having the upper being the serialized or "regulated" part as opposed to the lower? Am I missing something?

Interesting. I read that Herron did this as part of a NR conversion.
Wrong info on the internets?
