Maccabee Defense SLR information and updates

TNA sent out emails stating that MDI was going to start shipping sets out on April 14th, at a rate of 10-20 or more per week. So you could potentially get your set mid to late April, or it could take weeks longer. Depending on where you are in the queue.

I think 10-20 sets per WEEK is pathetic (Even considering that they probably have half a dozen companies to send to), but what do I know. I'm just a machinist...

Unfortunately that is how small Canadian gun manufacturers operate. They know they will only ever be able to sell so many, so rather than spend millions on setting up a shop with machines, tooling and workers to pump out hundreds a day to meet the total demand in canada within a few weeks/months. They play the long game with a small shop and crew and spread our small market demand out over many years keeping us waiting.

I'd rather be able to physically see and touch something from an unknown manufacturer, but the slow production tactics prevents that and we also see the results on the EE with unfired rifles that were not exactly what someone was expecting.

if Styer, Sauer, etc had a presale, I wouldn't hesitate to jump on it as I know the quality to expect from known manufacturers

I was told fromthe shop that I bought from that they would receive their entire order at the same time. They’re still expecting mid April.

This is a literal Mom and Pop shop, machining these out of quality stock.
If you’d rather wait to buy then by all means, you should. I get a kick out of these complaints, you know what the alternative is? Yes.. exactly...the alternative is that no one stepped up a designed this for the tiny Canadian market. We’re pretty insignificant here.

By my estimations, there’s a bout 750-1000 in the preorder, my guess is that will likely be the bulk of their sales for a while. Perhaps this will catch on in other countries, who knows?

Seems like wishful thinking.

I wouldn't hold my breath.

yeah the shop I bought from said he spoke with the owner of MDI two days ago and they said there are no delays as of right now. He told me that he is expecting mid april and will receive them all at once.
I wonder if hes lying, I'd like to contact the owner of MDI and see what's up.

If mid april comes and he tells me something different I wonder if I can get my credit card company to reverse the charge under fraud. Would an email from the company stating the delivery time be enough for that?

Not to worried. It’ll come when it comes.

I am number 100 on a list of 100.

Fair enough. I'm #37 out of ??

I was really hoping to shoot 3-gun and service rifle with it this season, so it's looking like I'll be missing some of the season now that March is out of the question. How much is still TBS I guess.

Not really fraud if they gave you delivery "estimates", or "expectations". No one committed to a specific date in writing. So you'll likely be S.O.L.

So let me get this straight, someone wants to try and sink a company, because they didn't meet a delivery time on a new product that they are bringing to market. And the product being a non restricted AR type platform, that you could hunt with legally, is not registered in any way.....some people really need to get a grip on reality....or grow up, one of the two.

You mean BOTH

Who wants to sink the company...?

In all honesty when I committed my deposit with an estimated late March delivery, I was totally expecting 4-6 weeks in delays so if it’s mid April, that’s totally fine.

I haven’t heard of very many start up companies delivering anywhere near their estimated time. So many factors.

Hell, this is Canada, the weather could delay everything a week or more. Supply of raw material, power outage, injury, anything really.

I will take a minor delay over rushed production any day...

Guys we are into this for max $100.... its not like you paid in full.

Uhh, nope, haha. I've bought and paid for well over $2k worth of parts to bolt on to this receiver set. I don't have a plan for them otherwise. That being said, even is the receiver set is 2 months late, I'll still want it. No less excited about the rifle. And no intention of giving it up, or doing something crazy like claiming fraud. I'm just in the business of producing machined parts according to a schedule. I acknowledge that things can and sometimes do go wrong, it just sucks that we have no choice but to sit back and take it.

Some did, and I am in for half. Very few of the retailers can commit the cash for 100-200 units at $100 deposit.

Fair enough, but that was a choice.

And it is not like the retailers have to pay up front either... The only ones that have to pay up front are MDI to have them produced.
Generally speaking retailers would begin a negotiation with MDI. Then they run a pre-sale, accept a deposit, figure out the numbers they will order, and then finalize the negotiation...

If a retailer wants to minimize their risk by asking for a larger deposit, thats cool.... but if the rest only took $100, I wonder if your retailer just isn't that good at negotiating.

I also realize that some people decided to make payments so the whole balance doesn't come at once, but that is also their choice.

This is the closest "FRT accepted" AR-15 style rifle with pretty amazing part interchangeability, that we have had so far....
I will gladly wait a little longer so they can get it right.

Im in the same boat, but again that your choice... And we are only into MDI for the deposit on the receivers.... $100.
I understand frustrations with delays, but MDI did us all a favour not demanding full price preorder.

If anyone who owns guns can't float a hundred bucks for a gun that will end up costing them at a minimum $2000 in the end... they likely shouldn't have bought one.

That is my only point.

Why someone would pay full price of a pre order item where only a nominal deposit is required, is beyond my comprehension.

Some people like throwing $100 a month at it so they don't get dinged by their wife later.... Ask me how I know.

Not the case this time, but a useful trick.... :)
