Is it just me.... but when I do the math on an SLR build, a Non-Res (used however) ACR conversion is in the same ball park, or maybe cheaper. I know it's too soon to compare fairly and I've never so much as held an ACR but wouldn't that maybe be wiser? I don't know.... an option anyways. Just bored random thoughts.

I bet half or more people buying the receiver set are cannibalizing parts from their current ARs, probably the only thing they'll have to buy is a barrel. That's my plan anyways.

I was going to consider purchasing a MDI SLR, but I am way more interested in ATRS' new upcoming MV-S. No stupid captive screw, no limitation on triggers, and estimated to be cheaper for a stripped reciever set.

That said, a used NR cheaply converted ACR is about $2400-2600. A cheap MDI build could be as cheap as you can buy a doner 18.6"+ barreled AR. So concievably $500 used for 20" norc + $1000 SLR = $1500 norc.

I checked out the display Maccabee today at CSC and was quite impressed with the build quality.

Very tight upper to lower fit. No machining marks. Very slick charging as in felt like a Colt Canada or Daniel Defence.

If it were not for the missing take down pins and the slanted magwell you would think it was a high end AR.

Thinking of picking up a stripped upper and lower when they become available and just scavenging one of my AR’s for parts and sourcing a long barrel.

Who know's if and when this new stripped receiver might be available and how are they planning on attaching the upper and lower?

Just go for both. I've got the SLR pre ordered, and look forward to building another MV! What a time to be a Canadian gun owner.

Not a bad idea. Kinda confused about all this after all the times we asked for this, someone else steps up and they change their mind. Oh well, this is what I wanted in the first place (I think). Not dropping the MacDef, but if and when these are a thing, one will be my thing.

It's amazing what a little competition can accomplish isn't it.

I think with NR status being equal, the main appeal with SLR is the lego capability and availability. Not so much with ACR?

Whichever company brings me a receiver set that uses takedown pins first gets my business. Bonus points for compatibility with trigger packs and forward assist.

Strongly agree, for that reason leaning towards Alberta Tactical's upcoming release.

Now that NEA/BCL has announced it will be producing a NR version of their AR in .223 it will get very interesting. Not much info though.

I got me an R-15 minus the lower on the EE for 700$, so I’m rolling for 1700$, well for lower #1 anyways, #2 will be much more extravagant, and I’m sure some other parts will migrate into the build. Got lots of time to kill until March.
