Hello folks, just a few general questions. I tried search but to no avail.

what is the availability of large pistols/machine pistols in Canada?
Legal restricted or non small caliber types. like 9x19, .45cap
I know the MP5 and similar are prohibited.
I realize many in this category will have restrictions against them.

But I am sure there are some out there.

Also, I was reading on NFA.ca about AP rounds. So what is the truth are these available, prohibited, available only in rifle, (insert other conditions here)

Pm' me if ya don't want to reply here,
Thanks all.

AP in handgun ammo is evil. Not evil in a rifle. However, there's no importing AP rifle ammo for civilian use. Most ranges won't let you shoot 'em anyway.

there is an HK MP7 in 4.6mm somewhere on the EE for aroud $12000.00 I think those rounds are designed to penetrate some body armour.

Makes your $1750 seem about right for an SMG / pistol caliber carbine.

Most of those larger "machine pistols" end up falling into the rifle category, no?
the tp9 with forward grip and folding stock is considered a rifle ( five round mags) right?

IMHO id rather drop $1100 on a sig 226/229 and have $ to spare ( and five extra rounds in the mags to boot)
But +1 for the SAF, what about the beretta Cx4? or the beretta/benelli Rx4 storm ?
( maybe getting a little on the long side of things)

If you prefer the MAC 11 look, you could always try to find a BXP, though if I remember right, I think only 11 made it to Canada.

the SAF and Cx4 seem particularly cool. Also the BXP. Are any of these manufactured still? available for lower prices? Eventually it would be something for the collection. I noticed the "ak-47" types are fairly value priced. Different ball game, but you know.

I think if you are not trying to break the bank for a pistol caliber carbine, the CX4 is the cheapest route, as the pricing is roughly $1100-$1200 brand new. The SAF is much more rare (I think less than 100 made it in), and the only one I see for sale in the EE right now is a mini-SAF for $2300. Just keep in mind that no one ever said buying "tactical" rifles and carbines was cheap.;)
